Resumo: Rain erosivity is one of the elements of the Universal Soil Loss Equation, which quantify the consequences of rain and its runoff in soil erosion. The objective is to determine the aridity index by performing its climatic classification and level of erosive susceptibility and calculating soil loss through its equation in the municipality of Amparo de São Francisco state of Sergipe. Precipitation data and average monthly and annual temperatures for the period 1963 to 2019 were used. Evapotranspiration was calculated using the climatological water balance method, generating aridity indices. The topographic variables presented data regarding runoff, and the high probability of linear erosion in the study region, facts found in the two field visits and recorded with photos of the study area. In addition to the runoff, it is also possible to infer the degradation of the floor covering due to excess moisture. The fluctuations present in the erosive indices and the population development need to be explored in order to verify possible contributions in the climatic changes of the studied area, a region that presented higher occupations of risk areas, reflecting in greater natural disasters. It is expected that the results presented in this study will provide information to public policy managers, support in the development of projects that will minimize such vulnerability, especially for those who live in risk areas, through the prevention and mitigation of catastrophic events that may occur due to excess or scarcity of rainfall.
