Bioadsorbents produced from organic waste for dye removal: a review

Resumo: | The use of dyes in the textile industry triggers the contamination of its effluents and its disposal without prior treatment generates environmental impacts. For the immobilization and degradation of contaminating substances, the most efficient and selective technique is adsorption, where the dye molecules are removed when they adhere to the surface of the adsorbent. The use of low-cost materials from organic material residues, such as rice husk, sugarcane bagasse, corn cob, açaí seed, orange peel, fruit bagasse in general in natura or as activated carbon are great resources for removing unwanted substances. The purpose of the article is to present a literature review on the study of adsorbents from organic compounds. The research was carried out in national and international journals, over the last six years, on activated carbon and biosorbent, with an efficiency of at least 70% in the removal of synthetic dyes. In the information provided in the survey, most alternative adsorbent materials show high efficiency when compared to commercial coal or others, due to their good morphological properties. Regardless of the physicochemical treatments, the viability of the adsorbents is proven with the analyses carried out. |

Para la inmovilización y degradación de sustancias contaminantes, la técnica más eficiente y selectiva es la adsorción, donde las moléculas de colorante se eliminan cuando se adhieren a la superficie del adsorbente. El uso de materiales de bajo costo a partir de residuos de materia orgánica, como cascarilla de arroz, bagazo de caña de azúcar, mazorca de maíz, semilla de açaí, cáscara de naranja, bagazo de frutas en general in natura o como carbón activado, son grandes recursos para la remoción de sustancias no deseadas. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar una revisión de la literatura sobre el estudio de adsorbentes a partir de compuestos orgánicos. La investigación se realizó en revistas nacionales e internacionales, durante los últimos seis años, sobre carbón activado y biosorbente, con una eficiencia de al menos 70% en la remoción de colorantes sintéticos. En la información proporcionada en la encuesta, la mayoría de los materiales adsorbentes alternativos muestran una alta eficiencia en comparación con el carbón comercial u otros, debido a sus buenas propiedades morfológicas. Independientemente de los tratamientos fisicoquímicos, la viabilidad de los adsorbentes queda demostrada con los análisis realizados.A utilização dos corantes na indústria têxtil desencadeia a contaminação dos seus efluentes e seu descarte sem tratamento prévio gera impactos ambientais. Para a imobilização e degradação das substâncias contaminantes, a técnica mais eficiente e seletiva é a adsorção, onde as moléculas do corante são removidas quando se aderem na superfície do adsorvente. A utilização de materiais de baixo custo provenientes de resíduos de materiais orgânicos, como casca de arroz, bagaço de cana-de-açúcar, sabugo de milho, caroço de açaí, casca de laranja, bagaço de frutas no geral in natura ou como carvão ativado são ótimos recursos para remoção de substâncias indesejadas. O objetivo do presente artigo é apresentar uma revisão de literatura sobre o estudo de adsorventes a partir de compostos orgânicos. A pesquisa foi realizada em periódicos de base nacional e internacional, dos últimos seis anos, sobre carvão ativado e biossorvente, com eficiência de, no mínimo 70% na remoção de corantes sintéticos. Nas informações disponibilizadas no levantamento apontam que a maioria dos materiais adsorventes alternativos apresenta eficiência alta quando comparada com carvão comercial ou outros, devido às boas propriedades morfológicas. Independentemente dos tratamentos físico-químicos, a viabilidade dos adsorventes é comprovada com as análises realizadas.
