Legal perspective of female circumcision: study of woman rights to access information of sexual health in Indonesian knowledge

Resumo: Female circumcision is a controversial practice in some countries, including Indonesia. This study aims to know the implication of female circumcision in Indonesia, especially in Situbondo, Surabaya and Bangkalan. Quantitative methodology is used as the methodology, while the samples are taken through random sampling and given questionnaire and interview. The finding showed that most women are still does not know about the function of female circumcision, they only following the tradition within their community. The patriarchy culture that view woman as a lower creature makes woman cannot get her right in asking about reproductive health. It even considered as taboo and unnecessary. Female circumcision that firstly legalized by the Health Minister is now prohibited due to health problem. Therefore, female circumcision is no longer legal in Indonesia.

Este estudio tiene como objetivo conocer la implicación de la circuncisión femenina en Indonesia, especialmente en Situbondo, Surabaya y Bangkalan. Se utiliza metodología cuantitativa como metodología, mientras que las muestras se toman mediante muestreo aleatorio y se les entrega cuestionario y entrevista. El hallazgo mostró que la mayoría de las mujeres aún no conocen la función de la circuncisión femenina, solo siguen la tradición dentro de su comunidad. La cultura del patriarcado que ve a la mujer como una criatura inferior hace que la mujer no pueda acertar al preguntar sobre la salud reproductiva. Incluso lo consideró tabú e innecesario. La circuncisión femenina que en un principio legalizó el Ministro de Salud ahora está prohibida debido a un problema de salud. Por lo tanto, la circuncisión femenina ya no es legal en Indonesia.A circuncisão feminina é uma prática controversa em alguns países, incluindo a Indonésia. Este estudo tem como objetivo conhecer as implicações da circuncisão feminina na Indonésia, especialmente em Situbondo, Surabaya e Bangkalan. A metodologia quantitativa é utilizada como metodologia, enquanto as amostras são tomadas por meio de amostragem aleatória e dado questionário e entrevista. A descoberta mostrou que a maioria das mulheres ainda não sabe sobre a função da circuncisão feminina, elas apenas seguem a tradição dentro de sua comunidade. A cultura patriarcada que vê a mulher como uma criatura inferior faz com que a mulher não consiga acertar ao perguntar sobre saúde reprodutiva. É até considerado tabu e desnecessário. A circuncisão feminina, que antes era legalizada pelo Ministro da Saúde, agora está proibida por problema de saúde.
