Resumo: Traffic accidents are important causes of morbidity and mortality, representing the main cause of death among people aged 15 to 29 years. Most of the injuries caused by these accidents are preventable, because of this, these events require policies and strategies aimed at preventing traffic injuries. Health education is a central tool in this process, as it provides awareness and transformation of individuals. The extension project Extension project “safe traffic: preventing trauma through education” aimed to promote the prevention of traffic accidents in the municipality of Parnaíba - PI, through the execution of educational activities with children and adolescents. The project was applied by 18 medical students from the Federal University of Vale do Parnaíba and the Higher Education Institute of Vale do Parnaíba, members of the Academic League of Trauma, Urgency and Emergency (LATURE). In this sense, considering that traffic accidents are a major public health problem in Brazil, it can be said that preventive actions against these traumas, especially inserted in a playful way and approached in a practical way, are very useful in learning concerning Cheers. As it happened, the educational objectives were achieved and the project had a positive impact on the target audience.

Los accidentes de tráfico son causas importantes de morbilidad y mortalidad, y representan la principal causa de muerte entre las personas de 15 a 29 años. La mayoría de las lesiones causadas por estos accidentes son prevenibles, debido a esto, estos eventos requieren políticas y estrategias destinadas a prevenir las lesiones de tránsito. La educación sanitaria es una herramienta central en este proceso, ya que proporciona conciencia y transformación a las personas. El proyecto de extensión El proyecto de extensión “tráfico seguro: prevención de traumas a través de la educación” tuvo como objetivo promover la prevención de accidentes de tránsito en el municipio de Parnaíba - PI, a través de la ejecución de actividades educativas con niños y adolescentes. El proyecto fue aplicado por 18 estudiantes de medicina de la Universidad Federal de Vale do Parnaíba y el Instituto de Educación Superior de Vale do Parnaíba, miembros de la Liga Académica de Trauma, Urgencia y Emergencia (LATURE). En este sentido, considerando que los accidentes de tránsito son un importante problema de salud pública en Brasil, se puede decir que las acciones preventivas contra estos traumas, especialmente insertadas de manera lúdica y abordadas de manera práctica, son muy útiles para aprender sobre Salud. Como sucedió, los objetivos educativos se lograron y el proyecto tuvieron un impacto positivo en el público objetivo.Os acidentes de trânsito são causas importantes de morbimortalidade, representando a principal causa de morte entre as pessoas de 15 a 29 anos. A maioria dos agravos causados por esses acidentes são evitáveis, por conta disso essas ocorrências necessitam de políticas e estratégias direcionadas para prevenção de traumas no trânsito. A educação de saúde é uma ferramenta central nesse processo, pois proporciona conscientização e transformação dos indivíduos. O projeto de extensão “trânsito seguro: prevenindo traumas através da educação” teve como objetivo promover a prevenção de acidentes de trânsito no município de Parnaíba - PI, a partir da execução de atividades educativas lúdicas com crianças e adolescentes. O projeto foi aplicado por 18 estudantes do curso de medicina da Universidade Federal do Vale do Parnaíba e do Instituto de Educação Superior do Vale do Parnaíba membros da Liga Acadêmica de Trauma, Urgência e Emergência (LATURE). Nesse sentido, tendo em vista que os acidentes de trânsito são um grande problema de saúde pública no Brasil, pode-se afirmar que ações de prevenção a esses traumas, sobretudo inseridas de maneira lúdica e abordadas de forma prática são bastantes úteis no aprendizado concernente à saúde. Como ocorreu, os objetivos educacionais foram alcançados e o projeto alcançou impacto positivo no público-alvo.
