Resumo: | This article aimed to investigate the construction of the professional identity of students enrolled in the Physical Education course at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), specifically on the university campus of Castanhal/PA. To achieve this objective, qualitative research was carried out through semi-structured interviews with students. The results revealed that participants had diverse experiences with the area, which included sports and exposure to a variety of activities. Furthermore, it was evidenced that the students' greatest experiences occurred during Elementary and High School, which may have influenced their often mistaken conceptions about the subject before entering Undergraduate Studies. These findings highlight the importance of considering students' primary experiences when planning pedagogical approaches to teaching the subject. Thus, based on the results, it is a fact that the initial training of these future professionals must critically address previous conceptions and provide opportunities for in-depth reflection on the teacher's professional identity. |

Para lograr este objetivo se realizó una investigación cualitativa a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas a los estudiantes. Los resultados revelaron que los participantes tuvieron diversas experiencias con el área, que incluyeron deportes y exposición a una variedad de actividades. Además, se evidenció que las mayores experiencias de los estudiantes ocurrieron durante la enseñanza primaria y secundaria, lo que puede haber influido en sus concepciones, muchas veces erróneas, sobre el tema antes de ingresar a la carrera de graduación. Estos hallazgos resaltan la importancia de considerar las experiencias primarias de los estudiantes al planificar enfoques pedagógicos para la enseñanza de la materia. Así, a partir de los resultados, es un hecho que la formación inicial de estos futuros profesionales debe abordar críticamente concepciones previas y brindar espacios para una reflexión profunda sobre la identidad profesional del docente.Este artigo teve como objetivo investigar a construção da identidade profissional de discentes matriculados no curso de Educação Física na Universidade Federal do Pará (UFPA), especificamente no campus universitário de Castanhal/PA. Para alcançar esse objetivo, foi realizada uma pesquisa qualitativa por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas com os discentes. Os resultados revelaram que os participantes tiveram experiências diversificadas com a área, que incluíram a esportivização e a exposição a uma variedade de atividades. Além disso, foi evidenciado que as maiores experiências dos discentes ocorreram durante o Ensino Fundamental e Médio, o que pode ter influenciado suas concepções, muitas vezes, equivocadas sobre a disciplina antes de ingressarem na Graduação. Esses achados destacam a importância de considerar as experiências primárias dos alunos ao planejar abordagens pedagógicas no ensino da disciplina.
