Resumo: The work aimed to assess the fundamental and indispensable importance of environmental law in sustainable development through the preservation of the environment. Existing works were also used for indirect documentation through bibliographic review. It has an exploratory and qualitative character. Existing legislation in Brazil and in the world was presented and the effort that has been made by some countries to control the negative environmental impacts caused by the rampant growth of attacks on the environment. The relations between sustainable development, environmental law and preservation of the environment were also presented. Finally, the work was able to confirm that through environmental legislation, environmental law is able to provide sustainable development by preserving the environment. Only in this way does everyone tend to win.

Only in this way does everyone tend to win.El trabajo tuvo como objetivo evaluar la importancia fundamental e indispensable de la ley ambiental en el desarrollo sostenible a través de la preservación del medio ambiente. Los trabajos existentes también se utilizaron para la documentación indirecta a través de la revisión bibliográfica. Tiene un carácter exploratorio y cualitativo. Se presentó la legislación vigente en Brasil y en el mundo y el esfuerzo realizado por algunos países para controlar los impactos ambientales negativos causados por el crecimiento desenfrenado de los ataques al medio ambiente. También se presentaron las relaciones entre desarrollo sostenible, derecho ambiental y preservación del medio ambiente. Finalmente, el trabajo pudo confirmar que a través de la legislación ambiental, la ley ambiental puede proporcionar un desarrollo sostenible a través de la preservación del medio ambiente. Solo de esta manera todos tienden a ganar.O trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a importância fundamental e indispensável do direito ambiental no desenvolvimento sustentável através da preservação do meio ambiente. Foram utilizados também trabalhos já existentes pela documentação indireta através de revisão bibliográfica. Tem caráter exploratório e qualitativo. Foram apresentadas as legislações existentes no Brasil e no mundo e o esforço que tem sido feito por alguns países para controlar os impactos ambientais negativos causados pelo crescimento desenfreado de ataques ao meio ambiente. Também foram apresentadas as relações entre desenvolvimento sustentável, direito ambiental e preservação do meio ambiente. Por fim, o trabalho conseguiu confirmar que através de legislações ambientais, o direito ambiental consegue proporcionar o desenvolvimento sustentável através da preservação do meio ambiente.
