Resumo: The present study aimed to: analyze the knowledge about HIV/AIDS and the sexuality experiences of elderly users who attend a coexistence group at a Primary Health Care (PHC) in Belém, PA. It was an evaluative investigation with a group of elderly users of a PHC, evaluating their knowledge about HIV/AIDS with the application of the HIV/AIDS Questionnaire for the Elderly (QHIV3I) followed by the use of the focus group technique to explore the experiences of their sexuality. As a result, the comparison of data obtained on knowledge of HIV/AIDS and experiences of sexuality among the elderly, proved to be incongruous. This finding leads us to conclude that just having knowledge does not mean changing safe sex behavior to prevent HIV/AIDS, implying for the near future, in-depth studies of educational strategies that promote behavioral changes to prevent HIV/AIDS and other Sexual Transmited Infections among the elders.

Research, Society and Development2020-05-22info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/425610.33448/rsd-v9i7.4256Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 No. 7; e483974256Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 Núm. 7; e483974256Research, Society and Development; v. 9 n. 7; e4839742562525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/4256/3661Copyright (c) 2020 Evelyn Tayana Maciel Mendonça, Eliete da Cunha Araújo, Eliã Pinheiro Botelho, Sandra Helena Isse Polaro, Lucia Hisako Takase Gonçalvesinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessMendonça, Evelyn Tayana MacielAraújo, Eliete da CunhaBotelho, Eliã PinheiroPolaro, Sandra Helena IsseGonçalves, Lucia Hisako Takase2020-08-20T18:05:03Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/4256Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:28:10.130748Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
