Resumo: Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA) is defined as a neurological syndrome, which ranks second in terms of morbidity and mortality in the world. With the appearance of SARS-CoV-2, the new coronavirus, some scientific works present questions related to neurological complications. The present study aimed to verify the relationship between people diagnosed with COVID-19 and the appearance of a cerebrovascular accident (CVA), during the period of hospitalization in two medium-sized hospitals in the city of Vitória da Conquista - BA, at the beginning of December. January 2020 to February 2022. A quantitative and exploratory study was carried out, with a descriptive approach, based on the analysis of 100 medical records of patients diagnosed with COVID-19. For data collection, two instruments were developed, a sociodemographic questionnaire and a structured form to collect the data generated by SARS-CoV-2 and AVE. During the defined period, 12 medical records were analyzed. The results showed that SARS-CoV-2 infection can cause neurological sequelae, such as stroke.

Con la aparición del SARS-CoV-2, el nuevo coronavirus, algunos trabajos científicos plantean interrogantes relacionados con las complicaciones neurológicas. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo verificar la relación entre las personas diagnosticadas con COVID-19 y la aparición de un accidente cerebrovascular (ACV), durante el período de hospitalización en dos hospitales de mediano porte en la ciudad de Vitória da Conquista - BA, al princípio de diciembre de 2020 a febrero de 2022. Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo y exploratorio, con enfoque descriptivo, basado en el análisis de 100 historias clínicas de pacientes diagnosticados con COVID-19. Para la recolección de datos se desarrollaron dos instrumentos, un cuestionario sociodemográfico y un formulario estructurado para recolectar los datos generados por el SARS-CoV-2 y el AVE. Durante el período definido se analizaron 12 historias clínicas. Los resultados mostraron que la infección por SARS-CoV-2 puede causar secuelas neurológicas, como un accidente cerebrovascular.O Acidente Vascular Encefálico (AVE), é definido como uma síndrome neurológica, que ocupa a segunda colocação de morbimortalidades no mundo. Com o aparecimento do SARS-CoV-2, o novo coronavírus, alguns trabalhos científicos apresentam questões ligadas às complicações neurológicas. O presente estudo teve por objetivo verificar a relação entre pessoas diagnosticadas com COVID-19 e o aparecimento do Acidente Vascular Encefálico (AVE), durante o período de internamento em dois hospitais de médio porte na cidade de Vitória da Conquista – BA, no início de janeiro de 2020 a fevereiro de 2022. Foi realizado um estudo de caráter quantitativo e exploratório, com abordagem descritiva, a partir da análise de 100 prontuários de pacientes diagnosticados com COVID-19. Para a coleta dos dados foram elaborados dois instrumentos, um questionário sociodemográfico e um formulário estruturado para coleta dos dados gerados pela SARS-CoV-2 e AVE. Durante o período definido, foram analisados 12 prontuários.
