Resumo: Environmental education is as an alternative to raise awareness of sustainable agricultural practices, aiming to incorporate new practices in sustainability, capable of reducing or eliminating damage to the environment. In this sense, the socio-environmental reality of rural settlement projects can be favored with actions in favor of the socio-environmental and economic sustainability of these territories. In this article, the objective was to highlight the role of environmental education, as an inducing tool in encouraging environmental conservation practices, avoiding and / or mitigating the damage caused by inefficient land use in sustainable development projects (PDS’s) in Brazil. Methodologically, it consists of a qualitative research of bibliographic nature. It was possible to infer that Environmental Education consists of an important tool capable of sharing information, promoting social development and the training of settlers, based on paradigm breaks, encouraging sustainable use, and developing continuous processes of coexistence and respect for the environment.

En este sentido, la realidad socioambiental de los proyectos de asentamiento rural puede verse favorecida con acciones a favor de la sostenibilidad socioambiental y económica de estos territorios. En este artículo, el objetivo fue resaltar el papel de la educación ambiental, como herramienta inductora en el fomento de prácticas de conservación ambiental, evitando y / o mitigando los daños causados ​​por el uso ineficiente de la tierra en proyectos de desarrollo sostenible (PDS) en Brasil. Metodológicamente, consiste en una investigación cualitativa de carácter bibliográfico. Se pudo inferir que la Educación Ambiental consiste en una importante herramienta capaz de compartir información, con el fin de sensibilizar y promover el desarrollo social y la formación de pobladores, con base en rupturas de paradigma, en el fomento del uso sustentable y el desarrollo de procesos continuos de convivencia y respeto por el medio ambiente.A educação ambiental tem se configurado como uma alternativa de sensibilização para práticas agrícolas sustentáveis, visando incorporar novas práticas em sustentabilidade, capazes de reduzir ou eliminar danos ao meio ambiente. Neste sentido, a realidade socioambiental dos projetos de assentamentos rurais pode ser favorecida com ações em prol da sustentabilidade socioambiental e econômica destes territórios. Neste artigo, objetivou-se evidenciar o papel da educação ambiental, como instrumento indutor no incentivo às práticas para conservação ambiental, evitando e/ou mitigando os danos causados pelo uso ineficiente da terra nos projetos de desenvolvimento sustentáveis (PDS’s) no Brasil. Metodologicamente, consiste em uma pesquisa qualitativa de cunho bibliográfico.
