Evaluation of the urban infrastructure network in a sub-basin in the Municipality of Itaperuna, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Resumo: The rapid growth of medium and large Brazilian cities in recent decades has intensified the process of density and one of the consequences is the undue occupation of urban watershed areas. This article aims at the urban diagnosis of a contribution sub-basin in Itaperuna, a municipality of a semi-urbanized area of 1,105.341 km² in the Northwest of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The methodology was based on the evaluation of the sub-basin according to the criteria of infrastructure (paving and drainage), social (population and housing density) and environmental (occurrence of floods) based on the field cadastral survey and database analysis of the urban infrastructure network. The results showed that the sub-basin presented a deficient infrastructure system with regard to paving and drainage of urban roads, in addition to the conservation and preservation of the existing watercourse. From the diagnosis presented, it is expected that this study will contribute additionally as a tool for decision-making of the relevant public authorities, taking into account studies and technical prerogatives fundamental to the implementation of an effective urban drainage system, ensuring the well-being of the population living in the region.

Este artículo tiene como objetivo el diagnóstico urbano de una subcuenca de contribución en Itaperuna, un municipio de una zona semi-urbanizada de 1105.341 km2 en el noroeste del Estado de Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. La metodología se basó en la evaluación de la subcuenca de acuerdo con los criterios de infraestructura (pavimentación y drenaje), social (densidad de población y vivienda) y ambiental (ocurrencia de inundaciones) basado en el estudio catastral de campo y el análisis de bases de datos de la red de infraestructura urbana. Los resultados mostraron que la subcuenca presentaba un sistema de infraestructura deficiente en materia de pavimentación y drenaje de carreteras urbanas, además de la conservación y preservación del curso de agua existente. A partir del diagnóstico presentado, se espera que este estudio contribuya adicionalmente como herramienta para la toma de decisiones de las autoridades públicas pertinentes, teniendo en cuenta estudios y prerrogativas técnicas fundamentales para la implementación de un sistema eficaz de drenaje urbano, garantizando el bienestar de la población que vive en la región.O crescimento rápido das médias e grandes cidades brasileiras nas últimas décadas vem intensificando o processo de adensamento e uma das consequências é a ocupação indevida das áreas das bacias hidrográficas urbanas. Este artigo tem como objetivo o diagnóstico urbano de uma sub-bacia de contribuição em Itaperuna, um município de uma área semi-urbanizada de 1.105,341 km² no Noroeste do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. A metodologia fundamentou-se na avaliação da sub-bacia segundo os critérios de infraestrutura (pavimentação e drenagem), social (densidade populacional e habitacional) e ambiental (ocorrência de inundações) com base no levantamento cadastral de campo e análise de banco de dados da rede de infraestrutura urbana. Os resultados apontaram que a sub-bacia apresentou um sistema de infraestrutura deficiente no que se refere à pavimentação e drenagem das vias urbanas, além da conservação e preservação do curso de água existente.
