Resumo: Wood has different uses, such as civil construction, furniture, cellulose pulp, and paper production, and energy generation. In this context, it is crucial to evaluate different wood properties in order to discover the potential for use in the wood segment. This research aimed to investigate the machining of Ingá wood (Inga edulis Mart). The analyzed wood was obtained from trees originated from thinning of the afforestation in public roads on the Seropédica campus of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro. For machining evaluation, a total of 10 specimens were produced and the degree of defects presented was analyzed, as well as the basic density of the wood. I. edulis wood showed satisfactory results for basic density and planing, sanding, vertical and horizontal drilling and nail cracking tests, and regular evaluation only for pin drilling. In this way, this research project studies the influence of machining tests on Inga edulis wood aiming at targeting it in diverse wood segments.

En este contexto, es crucial evaluar diferentes propiedades de la madera para descubrir el potencial de uso en el segmento de la madera. Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo investigar el mecanizado de madera Ingá (Inga edulis Mart). La madera analizada se obtuvo de árboles provenientes del adelgazamiento de la forestación de caminos públicos en el campus Seropédica de la Universidad Federal Rural de Río de Janeiro. Para la evaluación del mecanizado, se produjeron un total de 10 muestras y se analizó el grado de defectos presentados, así como la densidad básica de la madera. La madera de I. edulis presentó resultados satisfactorios para la densidad básica y las pruebas de cepillado, lijado, perforación vertical y horizontal y grietas de clavos, y evaluación periódica solo para perforación con clavos. De esta manera, este proyecto de investigación estudia la influencia de las pruebas de mecanizado en madera Inga edulis con el objetivo de apuntarla en diversos segmentos de madera.A madeira possui diferentes usos, como, construção civil, móveis, produção de polpa celulósica e papel e geração de energia. Nesse contexto, é crucial a avaliação de diversas propriedades de madeiras, a fim de descobrir as potencialidades de uso no segmento madeireiro. Esta pesquisa teve o objetivo de investigar a usinagem da madeira de Ingá (Inga edulis Mart). A Madeira analisada foi obtida de árvores oriundas de desbastes da arborização de vias públicas do campus de Seropédica da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro. Para avaliação da usinagem foram produzidos um total de 10 corpos de prova e analisou-se o grau de defeitos apresentados, bem como a densidade básica da madeira. A madeira de I. edulis apresentou resultados satisfatórios para a densidade básica e os testes de aplainamento, lixamento, furação vertical e horizontal e fendilhamento por pregos, e avaliação regular apenas para a furação para cavilha.
