Resumo: The COVID-19 pandemic produced a series of changes in people's experiences. Anchored in measures to protect against contagion, these changes have produced or distanced human relationships, as a work, leisure and culture activities, among others. Each subject experiences these changes in some way, especially young university students who have an academic and social routine. From this perspective, this work consists of an opinion paper with the objective of describing the opinion of university students from Teresina-PI in relation to social isolation and the impact generated by the pandemic on economic, social, family and health factors. For this purpose, the construction of conversation circles using virtual platforms with young people aged 20 to 28 years, of varied genres and belonging to the city of Teresina / PI, was defined as a method. The results point to damage to young people's mental health, due to social isolation, causing distance from bonds of relevant people from their social life. At the same time, this measure has given new meaning to family ties and new forms of teaching and learning. In addition, these engines are needed to deal with the consequences of the pandemic,  such as reduced income and changes in daily routines and activities. It concludes by alerting the need to evaluate the wide power of prejudice caused by COVID-19, awakening in this youth consequences that pass through the physiological barriers.

Research, Society and Development2020-12-17info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/1099510.33448/rsd-v9i12.10995Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 No. 12; e17191210995Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 Núm. 12; e17191210995Research, Society and Development; v. 9 n. 12; e171912109952525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/10995/9787Copyright (c) 2020 Elaine Ferreira do Nascimento; Liana Maria Ibiapina do Monte; Mariana Almendra Cavalcante do Nascimento; Alba da Silva Mateus; Paulo de Tarso Xavier Sousa Júnior; Felipe Ibiapina do Monte Ruben Siqueirahttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessNascimento, Elaine Ferreira doMonte, Liana Maria Ibiapina doNascimento, Mariana Almendra Cavalcante doMateus, Alba da SilvaSousa Júnior, Paulo de Tarso Xavier Siqueira, Felipe Ibiapina do Monte Ruben2020-12-30T23:32:22Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/10995Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:32:56.066632Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
