Resumo: Objective: The aim of this study was to compare pre-competitive anxiety athletes in wrestling and handball, and to verify the relationship of pre-competitive anxiety with age. Methods: Participated in this cross-sectional study 62 athletes (32 Chinese boxing and jiu-jtsu and 20 handball), both genders (55 men and 7 women), with a mean age of 24.25 ± 4.71 years. The instrument used was the reduced version of Competitive State Anxiety Inventory-2 (CSAI-2R). Data analysis was conducted using Generalized Estimation Equations (EGG) and Pearson correlation (p <0.05). Results: The results revealed that handball athletes presented higher cognitive anxiety score (p = <0.001), somatic (p = <0.001) and self-confidence (p = <0.001) when compared to wrestling athletes. No significant correlation was observed between age and anxiety dimensions. Conclusion: It was concluded that the sport seems to be an intervening factor in pre-competitive anxiety in the sports context.

Conclusion: It was concluded that the sport seems to be an intervening factor in pre-competitive anxiety in the sports context. Research, Society and Development2020-08-23info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/752310.33448/rsd-v9i9.7523Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 No. 9; e447997523Research, Society and Development; Vol. 9 Núm. 9; e447997523Research, Society and Development; v. 9 n. 9; e4479975232525-3409reponame:Research, Society and Developmentinstname:Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)instacron:UNIFEIporhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/article/view/7523/6658Copyright (c) 2020 Gabriel Lucas Morais Freire ; Nathan Leonardo Gomes Costa ; Sherdson Emanoel da Silva Xavier; Janine Alaíde Gonçalves Lima Feitosa Moreira; Laura Carvalho Ribeiro; Carla Thamires Laranjeira Granja ; Daniel Vicentini de Oliveira; José Roberto Andrade do Nascimento Juniorhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessFreire , Gabriel Lucas Morais Costa , Nathan Leonardo Gomes Xavier, Sherdson Emanoel da Silva Moreira, Janine Alaíde Gonçalves Lima Feitosa Ribeiro, Laura Carvalho Granja , Carla Thamires Laranjeira Oliveira, Daniel Vicentini de Nascimento Junior, José Roberto Andrade do 2020-09-18T01:42:11Zoai:ojs.pkp.sfu.ca:article/7523Revistahttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/indexPUBhttps://rsdjournal.org/index.php/rsd/oairsd.articles@gmail.com2525-34092525-3409opendoar:2024-01-17T09:30:13.235221Research, Society and Development - Universidade Federal de Itajubá (UNIFEI)false
