Resumo: The high incidence of enteroparasitoses in the North Region of Brazil directed this study to analyze the relationship between enteroparasitoses and the presence of iron-deficiency anemia in children and adolescents from the Anjos da Guarda Community in Belém/PA. Parents and caretakers were given the Informed Consent Form (ICF) and a socio-epidemiological questionnaire, after which stool and blood samples were collected from children and adolescents. From the parasites and anemia research, it was pointed out that 60.8% of the samples had at least one enteroparasite and only three patients had a blood count suggestive of iron-deficiency anemia. The data were crossed in the BioEstat 5.0 statistical program and, although no relationship between the presence of parasites and iron-deficiency anemia was observed, the study illustrates that the high incidence of parasites is related to poor basic sanitation, since 80% of the participants reported using a septic tank in their homes and drinking untreated water, which are risk factors associated with contamination by intestinal parasites such as E.histolytica and G.lamblia.
