Resumo: Technical assistance and rural extension services are of utmost importance to ensure small producers in food production. The objective of this work is to verify econometrically the role of rural extension on the production of some foods that make up the consumer's basic basket (banana, milk, cassava and egg) in the state of Goiás in 2017. The methodology used was the analysis of regression and correlation to verify the relationship between rural extension and food production. The results showed that of the foods selected for the research, the one that obtained the highest correlation coefficient was the milk production in relation to the rural extension, considering that one of the greatest demands of technical assistance and rural extension services in Goiás is milk. The regression results for the four models showed the low representativeness of the rural extension in the state, the coefficient of determination, which indicates the adjustment of the observations in relation to the estimated regression line, for all estimates were low. Therefore, it is concluded that rural extension and technical assistance in the state of Goiás represent a major challenge, especially for small farmers that derive from this service and the need to formulate new policies aimed at food production.

El objetivo de este trabajo es verificar econometricamente el papel de la extensión rural sobre la producción de algunos alimentos que componen la cesta básica del consumidor (banana, leche, mandioca y huevo) en el estado de Goiás en el año 2017. La metodología utilizada fue el análisis de: regresión y correlación para verificar la relación entre la extensión rural y la producción de alimentos. Los resultados mostraron que de los alimentos seleccionados para la investigación, lo que obtuvo mayor coeficiente de correlación fue la producción de leche en relación a la extensión rural, ya que una de las mayores demandas de servicios de asistencia técnica y extensión rural en Goiás es la leche. Los resultados de la regresión para los cuatro modelos evidenciaron la baja representatividad de la extensión rural en el estado, el coeficiente de determinación, que indica el ajuste de las observaciones en relación a la recta de regresión estimada para todas las estimaciones fueron bajas. Por lo tanto, se concluye que la extensión rural y la asistencia técnica en el estado de Goiás representan un gran desafío, especialmente para los pequeños agricultores que derivan de este servicio y la necesidad de formular nuevas políticas dirigidas a la producción de alimentos.Os serviços de assistência técnica e extensão rural são de extrema importância para assegurar os pequenos produtores na produção de alimentos. O objetivo deste trabalho é verificar econometricamente o papel da extensão rural sobre a produção de alguns alimentos que compõem a cesta básica do consumidor (banana, leite, mandioca e ovo) no estado de Goiás no ano de 2017. A metodologia utilizada foi a análise de regressão e correlação para verificar a relação entre a extensão rural e produção de alimentos.  Os resultados mostraram que dos alimentos selecionados para a pesquisa, o que obteve maior coeficiente de correlação foi a produção de leite em relação à extensão rural, haja vista que uma das maiores demandas de serviços de assistência técnica e extensão rural em Goiás é o leite. Os resultados da regressão para os quatro modelos evidenciaram a baixa representatividade da extensão rural no estado, o coeficiente de determinação, que indica o ajustamento das observações em relação à reta de regressão estimada, para todas as estimativas foram baixos.
