The government of Getulio Vargas (1930-1945) and the political implications for Goiás

Resumo: The general aim of the article is to identify the consequences of the government of Getúlio Vargas (1930-1945) for the state of Goiás.  It was did a bibliographical research covering books, scientific articles, thesis and dissertations. And to describe the migration and production changes in Goiás were did documentary research, such as censuses from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), and the Official Report sent by the intervener Pedro Ludovico Teixeira to President Vargas (1930).The results found showed that the alignment of the Goiás policy with the federal government enabled significant changes for the state of Goiás, such as the construction of Goiânia and the National Agricultural Colony of Goiás (CANG). The effects of this partnership between state and federal policy between 1930-1945 can be seen in the increase of migration to the region and the growth of agricultural production. It is concluded that the period 1930-1945 was the beginning of the political process of insertion of Goiás into the national economy, because of the political arrangement at the time in the state and federal spheres.

Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica de libros, artículos científicos, tesis y disertaciones; así como una investigación documental que incluye censos del Instituto Brasileño de Geografía y Estadística (IBGE) y un informe oficial enviado por el interviniente Pedro Ludovico Teixeira al presidente Vargas (1930). Los resultados encontrados mostraron que la alineación de la política de Goiás con el gobierno federal permitió cambios significativos para el estado de Goiás, como la construcción de Goiânia y la Colonia Agrícola Nacional de Goiás (CANG). Los efectos de esta asociación entre la política estatal y federal entre 1930-1945 se pueden ver en el aumento de la migración a la región y el aumento de la producción agrícola. La conclusión es que el período 1930-1945 fue el inicio del proceso político para la integración del estado de Goiás a la economía nacional, gracias al arreglo político del momento en los ámbitos estatal y federal.O objetivo geral do artigo é identificar quais foram as consequências do governo de Getúlio Vargas (1930-1945) para o estado de Goiás. Para a confecção deste, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica contemplando livros, artigos científicos, teses e dissertações. Para descrever as alterações migratórias e de produção em Goiás, foram consultadas fontes documentais, tais como recenseamentos do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), e Relatório Oficial enviado pelo interventor Pedro Ludovico Teixeira ao Presidente Vargas (1930). Os resultados encontrados demonstraram que o alinhamento da política goiana com o governo federal, possibilitou mudanças significativas para o estado de Goiás, tais como a construção de Goiânia e da Colônia Agrícola Nacional de Goiás (CANG). Os efeitos desta parceria entre política estadual e federal entre 1930-1945, podem ser observados no aumento das migrações para a região e incremento da produção agrícola.
