Resumo: Objective: To analyze maternal age, association with intercurrences during pregnancy and influence on the determination of childbirth. Method: Observational, retrospective, cross-sectional study with puerperae whose births occurred in 2016, in a hospital in the interior of São Paulo. Results: Of 1130 records analyzed, 22.2% presented <19 years and 10.3% ≥ 35 years. urinary tract infection occurred in 21.1% of the women, preterm labor (5.3%), premature placenta detachment (5.2%) and pregnancy-specific hypertensive disease (4.2%). diabetes and arterial hypertension were more frequent among women with ≥ 35 years of age, 57.9% of women had normal delivery and 42.1% had cesarean, a higher rate among women <19 years. Hypertension was associated with cesarean section in pregnant women ≥ 35 years old and pregnancy-specific hypertensive disease at normal delivery. Conclusions: Maternal age, pregnant women <19 years was associated with cesarean section and in pregnancies> 35 vaginal delivery was more frequent and regardless of age, the most frequent gestational complication was a urinary tract infection.

Método: Estudio observacional, retrospectivo, transversal con las madres cuyas entregas se produjo en 2016, en un hospital de Sao Paulo. Resultados: 1130 registros analizados, 22,2% eran <19 años y 10,3% ≥ 35 años. La infección del tracto urinario se produjo en 21,1% de las mujeres en el parto prematuro (5,3%), desprendimiento de placenta (5,2%) y la enfermedad específica del embarazo La hipertensión (4,2%).La diabetes y la hipertensión fueron más frecuentes entre las mujeres de edades  ≥  35 años, 57,9% de las mujeres tuvo parto vaginal y la tasa de 42,1% cesárea mayor entre las mujeres <19 años. La hipertensión se asocia con cesárea en las mujeres embarazadas geq 35 años y la enfermedad hipertensiva del embarazo en parto normal. Conclusión: La edad materna, las mujeres embarazadas <19 años se asoció a la cesárea y en los embarazos> 35 el parto vaginal fue más frecuente e independientemente de la edad, la complicación gestacional más frecuente fue una infección del tracto urinario.Objetivo: Analisar a idade materna, associação com intercorrências na gestação e a influência na determinação do parto. Método: Estudo observacional, retrospectivo, transversal com puérperas cujos partos ocorreram no ano de 2016, em hospital do interior paulista. Resultados: De 1130 prontuários analisados, 22,2% apresentaram <19 anos e 10,3% ≥ 35 anos. A infecção do trato urinário ocorreu em 21,1% das mulheres, o trabalho de parto prematuro (5,3%), descolamento prematuro de placenta (5,2%) e doença hipertensiva específica da gravidez (4,2%). diabetes e hipertensão arterial foram mais frequentes entre mulheres com ≥ 35 anos, 57,9% das mulheres tiveram parto normal e 42,1% cesárea, taxa superior entre mulheres < 19 anos. A hipertensão associou-se à cesárea em gestantes ≥ 35 anos e a doença hipertensiva específica da gravidez ao parto normal.
