Resumo: | Objective: to associate sexual function, quality of life (QOL), symptoms of anxiety and depression with sociodemographic and clinical aspects in kidney transplant recipients. Methods: Cross-sectional study carried out in the northeast of Brazil, in a reference University Hospital in the state of Maranhão for performing transplants, data collected from January to December 2019, sample of 240 kidney transplant recipients, > 18 years in time of transplantation, regular outpatient follow-up; quality of life, sexual function, anxiety symptoms and depression were assessed using WHOQOL-bref, Sexual Quotient – male version (QSM) and female version (QSF), Hospital Anxiety and Depression Measurement Scale (HADS); normality assumptions were evaluated by the Shapiro Wilk test, comparison of means was used Student t-test for independent samples or Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with post-hoc Bonferroni, in the absence of normality, Mann Whitney and Kruskal Wallis with post hoc Dunnet. Results: participants had a mean age of 42 years, 123 women had lower scores for general QOL (p=0.001), low general sexual function (p<0.001), higher levels of anxiety symptoms (p = 0.002) and depressive symptoms (p < 0.001); sexual function and QOL negatively influenced by sociodemographic and clinical characteristics. Conclusion: it is important to emphasize the need to specify with more clarity about personal, environmental and clinical factors that negatively influence QOL outcomes, therefore, a better understanding of these factors is essential to develop interventions that improve QOL and sexual function in the context of transplantation and minimize symptoms of anxiety and depression. |
