Studies and surveys around the world reveal that many patients infected with the coronavirus needed to be admitted to the ICU for a limited period. This study aimed to analyze the trend of coronavirus-related cases and deaths in an intensive care unit. The method of analysis was an integrative review carried out through the Virtual Health Library using the following descriptors: Nursing. Coronavirus. Intensive care unit. Mortality. It was observed that the interventions adopted to stop the transmission of COVID-19 are based on scientific criteria that justify them. Through this study, it was possible to analyze the behavior, the number of cases and deaths of this disease in Brazil and in the world, providing informational values ​​that can help managers in planning strategic actions for the prevention, monitoring and control of the pandemic and, proposing, adjust the current needs and enhance actions that will contribute to the reduction of cases and deaths.
