The perception of medicine students about Clinical Medicine by The Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure

Resumo: Introduction: The medical clinic proves its importance in medicine when it encompasses content from various medical specialties, being a prerequisite for most of them. Objective: This work aims to analyze and compare the perception of medicine students about Internal Medicine, through the application of 2 questionnaires. Method: This is a quantitative, observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study, with the application of two questionnaires, one of which is the The Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) and the other elaborated by the authors on a Likert scale, comparing the students' perception about of the various subspecialties of clinical medicine in the pre- and post-internship period, evaluating the degree of importance and difficulty for learning. Both were applied to eighth and twelfth semester students at Centro Universitário Christus (Unichristus). The analysis of the exposed data will be essential for a better teaching planning for students, being a great benefit in the academic sphere. Results: Questionnaires were applied to 147 students, 79 (53.7%) from the 8th semester and 68 (46.2%) from the 12th semester. There was a predominance of females (61.2%), resulting in 90 students. By observing the DREEM questionnaire, obtained by the average score of all participants, it allowed the identification of strengths, such as the positive perception of students about the tutors, and weaknesses, such as the perception of learning. The total score average was 132.76, meaning “More Positive than Negative”. Conclusion: With the results obtained, it was possible to analyze the educational environment at Centro Universitário Christus, in addition to comparing the perception of pre-boarding and post-boarding students about some medical specialties, noting that the educational environment in the institution's medical clinic is considered good by the students.

Objetivo: Este trabajo pretende analizar y comparar la percepción de los estudiantes de medicina sobre la clínica médica a través de la aplicación de 2 cuestionarios. Método: Se trata de un estudio cuantitativo, observacional, descriptivo y transversal, con la aplicación de dos cuestionarios, uno de ellos The Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) y otro elaborado por los autores mediante una escala de Likert, en el que se compara la percepción de los estudiantes sobre las distintas subespecialidades de la medicina clínica en la atención previa y posterior al estudio, en cuanto al grado de importancia y dificultad para el aprendizaje. Ambos se aplicaron a los alumnos de octavo y duodécimo semestre del Centro Universitário Christus (Unichristus). Resultados: Se aplicaron cuestionarios a 147 estudiantes, 79 (53,7%) del 8º semestre y 68 (46,2%) del 12º semestre. Hubo un predominio del género femenino (61,2%), resultando 90 estudiantes. Además, se observó que la mayoría de los estudiantes tenían hasta 25 años. Al observar el cuestionario DREEM, obtenido por la puntuación media de todos los participantes, se identificaron puntos fuertes, como la percepción positiva de los estudiantes sobre los preceptores, y puntos débiles, como la percepción sobre el aprendizaje. La puntuación media total fue de 132,76, lo que significa "Más positivo que negativo". Conclusión: Con los resultados obtenidos, fue viable analizar el ambiente educativo en el Centro Universitario Christus, además de comparar la percepción de los estudiantes antes y después de la práctica obligatoria final sobre algunas especialidades médicas, encontrando que el ambiente educativo en medicina clínica de la institución es considerado bueno por el alumnado.Introdução: A Clínica Médica comprova sua importância na medicina no momento em que engloba conteúdo das diversas especialidades médicas, sendo pré-requisito para grande parte destas. Objetivo: Este trabalho visa analisar e comparar a percepção dos estudantes de medicina sobre a clínica médica através da aplicação de 2 questionários. Método: Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo, observacional, descritivo e transversal, com a aplicação de dois questionários, sendo um destes o questionário The Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) e outro elaborado pelos autores através de escala Likert, comparando a percepção dos estudantes acerca das diversas subespecialidades da clínica médica no pré-internato e no pós-internato, quanto ao grau de importância e à dificuldade para aprendizagem. Ambos foram aplicados em alunos do oitavo semestre e do décimo segundo semestre do Centro Universitário Christus (Unichristus). Resultados: Foram aplicados questionários para 147 estudantes, 79 (53,7%) do 8° semestre e 68 (46,2%) do 12° semestre. Houve predomínio do sexo feminino (61,2%), resultando em 90 alunas. Ademais, foi observado que grande parte dos estudantes anos de idade. Ao observar o questionário DREEM, obtido pela pontuação média de todos os participantes, houve identificação de pontos fortes, como a percepção positiva dos alunos sobre os preceptores, e de pontos fracos, tal qual a percepção sobre a aprendizagem. A média total da pontuação foi de 132.76, significando “More Positive than Negative”.
