Traditional community inserted in the initial mining process

Resumo: The objective of this work was to investigate the representation of the residents of the rural community Serra da Boa Esperança and surroundings, municipality of Ipaporanga - CE, regarding the effects of the installation and process of iron mining on natural resources. The research consisted of a case study with a qualitative-quantitative approach, based on the application of alternative methodologies, such as Research-Action-Participant, and with an increase in the use of Participatory Rural Diagnosis techniques, such as choosing priorities and unstructured interviews. A total of 102 people contributed to the survey, and the interviews were applied to 70 residents. In theory, the residents have little understanding of the mining activity process, as well as the class of ore extracted. However, they are unfavorable to the establishment of programs that disturb the natural resources present in the region. From the method of choosing priorities, it was observed that participants engaged in social movements have greater knowledge on the subject. It is believed that popular environmental education projects, structured by social movements, sensitize families to strengthen resistance against environmental exploitation, designating strategies to prevent the establishment of mega-enterprises in these territories.

La investigación consistió en un estudio de caso con enfoque cualitativo-cuantitativo, basado en la aplicación de metodologías alternativas, como la Investigación-Acción-Participante, y con un incremento en el uso de técnicas de Diagnóstico Rural Participativo, como la elección de prioridades y entrevistas no estructuradas. Un total de 102 personas contribuyeron a la encuesta, y las entrevistas se aplicaron a 70 vecinos. En teoría, los pobladores tienen poca comprensión del proceso de la actividad minera, así como de la clase de mineral extraído. Sin embargo, son desfavorables al establecimiento de programas que perturben los recursos naturales presentes en la región. A partir del método de elección de prioridades, se observó que los participantes de los movimientos sociales tienen mayor conocimiento sobre el tema. Se cree que los proyectos de educación ambiental popular, estructurados por los movimientos sociales, sensibilizan a las familias para fortalecer la resistencia contra la explotación ambiental, designando estrategias para evitar el establecimiento de megaempresas en estos territorios.Objetivou-se com esse trabalho averiguar a representação dos moradores da comunidade rural Serra da Boa Esperança e entorno, município de Ipaporanga - CE, quanto aos efeitos da instalação e processo de mineração de ferro sobre os recursos naturais. A pesquisa consistiu em um estudo de caso com abordagem qualiquantitativa, baseada na aplicação de metodologias alternativas, como de Investigação-Ação-Participante, e com incremento do uso de técnicas de Diagnóstico Rural Participativo, como eleição de prioridades e entrevistas não estruturadas. Um total de 102 pessoas contribuíram com a pesquisa, sendo as entrevistas aplicadas a 70 moradores. Em tese, os moradores apresentam pouca compreensão sobre o processo da atividade de mineração, bem como da classe de minério extraído. Contudo, mostram-se desfavoráveis ao estabelecimento de programas que perturbem os recursos naturais presentes na região. A partir do método eleição de prioridades, observou-se que os participantes engajados em movimentos sociais possuem maior conhecimento com relação ao assunto.
