Resumo: This work aims to present the applicability of the Six Sigma methodology to optimize operations management activities at a phosphate mine in the municipality of Araxá, Minas Gerais, and thus to improve the block model. For this, the DMAIC - Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control model was used. Initially defined the problem, then the perspective of mine geology research and in the later stages, continuous improvement tools were used, such as: process map, pareto chart, cause and effect diagram including KPI's - Key Performance Indicator, GUT(Gravity, Urgency and Tendency) matrix and control chart, made using the MiniTab software. The results present sampling as the main indicator and develops action plans to complement the basic work. Therefore, it is possible to understand the importance of the Six Sigma methodology applied in mine geology and its representativeness in the optimization of operations, using continuous improvement techniques.

Para ello se utilizó el modelo DMAIC - Definir, Medir, Analizar, Mejorar y Controlar. Inicialmente, se definió el problema y se definió la perspectiva de la investigación en geología minera. Y, en las etapas posteriores, se utilizaron herramientas de mejora continua, tales como: mapa de procesos, gráfico de Pareto, diagrama de causa y efecto incluyendo KPI's - Key Performance Indicators, matriz GUT - Gravedad, Urgencia y Tendencia y gráfico de control, hecho usando el programa MiniTab. Los resultados presentan el muestreo como indicador principal y desarrollan planes de acción para complementar el trabajo básico. Por tanto, es posible comprender la importancia de la metodología Six Sigma aplicada en geología minera y su representatividad en la optimización de las operaciones, utilizando técnicas de mejora continua.O presente trabalho tem como objetivo apresentar a aplicabilidade da metodologia Six Sigma para otimizar as atividades de gerenciamento de operações em uma mina de fosfato no município de Araxá, Minas Gerais, e assim conseguir aprimorar o modelo de blocos. Para isto, foi utilizado o modelo DMAIC - Definir, Medir, Analisar, Aprimorar e Controlar. Inicialmente foi definido a problemática e, perspectiva da pesquisa da geologia de mina. E, nas etapas posteriores foram empregadas ferramentas de melhoria contínua, como: mapa de processos, gráfico de pareto, diagrama de causa e efeito incluindo os KPI’s - Indicadores-chave de Desempenho, matriz GUT - Gravidade, Urgência e Tendência e gráfico de controle, confeccionados utilizando o programa MiniTab. Os resultados apresentam a amostragem como indicador principal e desenvolve planos de ação de forma a complementar o trabalho base.
