Resumo: The process for installing a dental implant must be carried out with the precision of planning that includes a complete medical record with all the information about the patient and the implant that will be performed. Many factors must be considered for the perfect execution of one or more dental implants, in order to safeguard both patient and professional. The objective of the present study was to clarify the importance of good planning, which deepens the knowledge of the patient's particularities, seeking to verify the relationship between implant failures and errors in the collection of data prior to surgery, also addressing topics of a dental record, and the legal parameters for the digitization and storage time of these records. Adequate planning composition, dental records and documentation need to be highlighted in the literature, since they are topics that, when becoming clinical routine, can make the difference between success and failure in Implantology. In the reviewed works, the importance of having a clear exposure of the treatment to the patient with all the information about the entire process stands out, in order to guarantee compliance with the Consumer Protection Code and the Dental Ethics Code, leading to the existence of a consent form so that both parties have legal protection and confidence in the treatment.

Muchos factores deben ser considerados para la perfecta ejecución de uno o más implantes dentales, con el fin de salvaguardar tanto al paciente como al profesional. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo esclarecer la importancia de una buena planificación, que profundice en el conocimiento de las particularidades del paciente, buscando verificar la relación entre las fallas de los implantes y los errores en la recolección de datos previos a la cirugía, abordando también temas de una ficha odontológica, y los parámetros legales para la digitalización y el tiempo de almacenamiento de estos registros. La composición adecuada de la planificación, los registros dentales y la documentación necesitan ser destacados en la literatura, ya que son temas que, al convertirse en rutina clínica, pueden marcar la diferencia entre el éxito y el fracaso en Implantología. En los trabajos revisados ​​se destaca la importancia de tener una exposición clara del tratamiento al paciente con toda la información de todo el proceso, a fin de garantizar el cumplimiento del Código de Protección al Consumidor y el Código de Ética Odontológica, dando lugar a la existencia de un formulario de consentimiento para que ambas partes tengan protección legal y confianza en el tratamiento.O processo para instalação de um implante dentário deve ser realizado com a precisão do planejamento que engloba um prontuário completo com todas as informações do paciente e do implante que será realizado. Muitos fatores devem ser considerados para a perfeita execução de um ou mais implantes dentários, de modo, a salvaguardar tanto paciente como profissional. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi esclarecer a importância de um bom planejamento, que aprofunde o conhecimento de particularidades do paciente, buscando verificar relação entre falhas de implantes e erros na colheita de dados prévios à cirurgia, abordando ainda tópicos de um prontuário odontológico, e os parâmetros legais para a digitalização e o tempo de guarda destes prontuários. Adequada composição de planejamento, prontuário odontológico e guarda da documentação carecem de maior destaque na literatura, posto que são temas que, ao se tornarem rotina clínica, podem fazer a diferença entre sucesso e fracasso na Implantodontia.
