Resumo: The present work aims to review the literature and clarify the biological relevance of ozone therapy, involved in tissue restoration and its medicinal potential in the prevention, control and treatment of infections.With a great antimicrobial potential and a great biocompatibility, ozone is very indicated for fighting inflammation and infections in the oral cavity. A low-cost and quite reliable treatment for the preparation of this study was developed based on a survey in the PubMed database, on the Capes/Mec Periodicals Portal and on the Google Scholar database. Some articles were found which fit in theincorporation criteria. Lots of sources claimed  improvement of infections in the oral region after the administering of allotrope of oxygen (O2), ozone (O3). In association with medicines, this treatment can contribute to the improvement of the patient's life, by becoming a great therapeutic option.

Con gran potencial antimicrobiano y excelente biocompatibilidad, el ozono es muy adecuado para combatir inflamaciones e infecciones en la cavidad oral. Un tratamiento de bajo costo y muy confiable. El propósito del estudio de revisión de la literatura fue aclarar la relevancia biológica de la ozonoterapia involucrada en la restauración de tejidos y su potencial medicinal en la prevención, control y tratamiento de infecciones. Para la creación de este estudio, se realizó una búsqueda en la base de datos del Portal Regional de la BVS, PubMed y Google Académico. Se encontraron algunos artículos que cumplían con los criterios de incorporación. Varias fuentes afirmaron una mejoría en las infecciones afectadas en la región bucal tras la administración de Alótropo de oxígeno (O2), ozono (O3). En asociación con medicamentos, este tratamiento puede contribuir a mejorar la vida del paciente, convirtiéndose en una gran opción terapéutica.O presente trabalho tem como objetivo o estudo de revisão da literatura e esclarecer a relevância biológica da ozonioterapia, envolvida na atuação de restauração tecidual e seu potencial medicinal na prevenção, controle e tratamento de infecções.  Com grande potencial antimicrobiano e com uma ótima biocompatibilidade, o ozônio é bastante indicado para o combate de inflamações e infecções na cavidade bucal, sendo um tratamento de baixo custo e bastante confiável. Para a elaboração deste estudo fora realizada uma busca na base de dados do PubMed, no Portal de Periódicos Capes/Mec e na base de dados do Google Acadêmico, onde foram encontrados alguns artigos que se enquadravam nos critérios de incorporação. Diversas fontes afirmaram melhora de infecções acometidas na região bucal após a administração de Alótropo do oxigênio (O²), o ozônio (O³).
