The STEAM approach applied through an interdisciplinary project on the COVID-19 pandemic

Resumo: The COVID-19 pandemic determined new forms of organization in all sectors of society, including the educational sector that needed to reinvent itself in terms of methodological procedures, especially regarding the insertion of technological resources for the development of classes. In this context, the STEAM approach based on interdisciplinary projects using technology, envisions a new way of organizing the curriculum that aims to integrate curriculum components, student protagonist and education aimed at solving real problems encountered in the community. Thus, the objective of this article was to apply the STEAM Approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) through an interdisciplinary project on the psychological and social consequences of COVID-19 in the 8th Year of Elementary School, in a public school, aiming to the development of skills and abilities present in the official documents of Brazil and the state of Mato Grosso, BNCC and DRC-MT. For the development of the research, the applied qualitative approach was used, as well as the bibliographic research with an action research format, regarding the procedures. he subjects of this investigation were teachers of the curricular components, Natural Sciences, Art and Mathematics of a public school located in a city in the western region of Mato Grosso and students of the 8th year of the same school. Data collection was carried out through participant observation during the construction and execution of the actions of the project entitled: The psychological and social consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The results showed that students develop skills and abilities when challenged, especially when carrying out investigation and prototype building activities as mentioned in the STEAM Approach.

En este contexto, el enfoque STEAM basado en proyectos interdisciplinarios con uso de tecnología, vislumbra una nueva forma de organizar el currículo que pretende integrar los componentes curriculares, el protagonismo de los estudiantes y una educación orientada a la solución de problemas reales que se encuentran en la comunidad. Así, el objetivo de este artículo fue aplicar el Enfoque STEAM (Ciencia, Tecnología, Ingeniería, Artes y Matemáticas) a través de un proyecto interdisciplinario sobre las consecuencias psicológicas y sociales del COVID-19 en el 8º Año de Educación Primaria, en una escuela pública, visando el desarrollo de competencias y habilidades presentes en los documentos oficiales de Brasil y del estado de Mato Grosso, BNCC y DRC-MT. Para el desarrollo de la investigación se utilizó el enfoque cualitativo aplicado, así como la investigación bibliográfica con formato de investigación acción, en cuanto a los procedimientos. Los sujetos de esta investigación fueron profesores de los componentes curriculares, Ciencias Naturales, Arte y Matemáticas de una escuela pública ubicada en una ciudad de la región occidental de Mato Grosso y alumnos del 8º año de la misma escuela. La recolección de datos se realizó a través de la observación participante durante la construcción y ejecución de las acciones del proyecto titulado: Las consecuencias psicológicas y sociales de la pandemia del COVID-19. Los resultados mostraron que los estudiantes desarrollan habilidades y destrezas cuando son desafiados, especialmente cuando realizan actividades de investigación y creación de prototipos como se menciona en el Enfoque STEAM.A pandemia da COVID-19 determinou novas formas de organização em todos os setores da sociedade, dentre eles o educacional que necessitou se reinventar quanto aos procedimentos metodológicos, especialmente quanto a inserção de recursos tecnológicos para o desenvolvimento das aulas. Neste contexto, a abordagem STEAM baseada em projetos interdisciplinares com a utilização da tecnologia, vislumbra uma nova forma de organização do currículo que visa a integração dos componentes curriculares, o protagonismo estudantil e uma educação voltada para a resolução de problemas reais encontrados na comunidade. Assim, o objetivo deste artigo foi aplicar a Abordagem STEAM (Ciências, Tecnologia, Engenharia, Artes e Matemática) através de um projeto interdisciplinar sobre as consequências psicológicas e sociais da COVID-19 no 8º Ano do Ensino Fundamental, em uma escola pública, visando o desenvolvimento de competências e habilidades presentes nos documentos oficiais do Brasil e do estado de Mato Grosso, BNCC e DRC-MT. Para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa foi utilizada a abordagem qualitativa aplicada e ainda a pesquisa bibliográfica com formato de pesquisa ação, quanto aos procedimentos. Os sujeitos dessa investigação foram professores dos componentes curriculares, Ciências da Natureza, Arte e Matemática de uma escola pública localizada em um município da região oeste de Mato Grosso e estudantes do 8º Ano da mesma escola. A coleta de dados foi realizada através da observação participante durante a construção e execução das ações do projeto intitulado: As consequências psicológicas e sociais da pandemia da COVID-19.
