Rational use of water in the school environment: a research in public schools of basic education

Resumo: The objective of this article was to investigate how the theme of the rational and sustainable use of water is experienced in terms of practical applicability, and how it is disseminated through actions, within the school context, in four elementary schools of Elementary School municipal school network, in the city of Pombal, located in the upper Paraíba hinterland. Methodologically, the research can be classified as exploratory, the approach follows a qualitative approach. The data collection instrument consisted of a structured questionnaire with 18 open questions, applied with the directors of the schools surveyed. From the results, it was possible to conclude that, despite the reality of water restriction and the constant lack of water in the daily school life, there is still no management focused on the efficient and sustainable use of water in these schools, where there is no feedback from finance and education secretariats for school managers in order to provide better control of water consumption in school buildings, as well as the lack of more efficient facilities and a more in-depth work with students, about the importance of the conscious and sustainable use of water.

Metodológicamente, la investigación puede ser clasificada como exploratoria, el enfoque sigue un enfoque cualitativo. El instrumento de recolección de datos consistió en un cuestionario estructurado con 18 preguntas abiertas, aplicado con los directores de las escuelas encuestadas. A partir de los resultados fue posible concluir que, a pesar de la realidad de restricción hídrica y de la constante falta de agua en el cotidiano escolar, todavía no hay una gestión enfocada en el uso eficiente y sostenible del agua en estas escuelas, donde se nota la ausencia de retroalimentación las secretarías de finanzas y educación para con gestores escolares, con el fin de propiciar un mejor control de consumo de agua de los edificios escolares, así como la falta de instalaciones que poseen más eficiencia, y de un trabajo más profundo junto a los alumnos, que propicie mayor conciencia sobre la importancia del uso consciente y sostenible del agua.O objetivo do presente artigo foi investigar como a temática do uso racional e sustentável da água é vivenciado em termos de aplicabilidade prática, e como é disseminada através de ações, dentro do âmbito escolar, em quatro escolas de primeira fase do Ensino Fundamental da rede municipal de ensino, na cidade de Pombal, situada no alto sertão paraibano. Metodologicamente, a pesquisa pode ser classificada como exploratória, a abordagem segue um enfoque qualitativo. O instrumento de coleta de dados consisitiu em um questionário estruturado com 18 perguntas abertas, aplicado com os diretores das escolas pesquisadas.
