Resumo: Objective: To propose recommendations for caregivers and family members when caring for the elderly in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This research is a narrative review with reflective analysis of the current literature. The search for information took place in September and October 2020, in the virtual health library, Scielo electronic library, on the Ministry of Health portal, PAHO, and also from SBGG. Results: In order for care to be possible, caregivers must be in adequate physical, psychological and emotional conditions. Therefore, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, old and new habits need to be established by everyone living with the elderly. Conclusion: COVID-19 has become a major health challenge, especially for the elderly population, it is currently one of the most vulnerable, needing care to be redoubled so that it is possible to safeguard the health of this population, thus, come into focus the role of caregivers, whether formal or informal.

Método: Esta investigación es una revisión narrativa con análisis reflexivo de la literatura actual. La búsqueda de información se realizó en los meses de septiembre y octubre de 2020, en la biblioteca virtual de salud, biblioteca electrónica Scielo, en el portal del Ministerio de Salud. OPS, y también de SBGG. Resultados: Para que la atención sea posible, los cuidadores deben estar en condiciones físicas, psicológicas y emocionales adecuadas. Por lo tanto, debido a la pandemia de Covid-19, todas las personas que viven con ancianos deben establecer hábitos nuevos y viejos. Conclusión: COVID-19 se ha convertido en un gran desafío de salud, especialmente para la población anciana, actualmente es uno de los más vulnerables, necesitando que se redoble la atención para que sea posible salvaguardar la salud de esta población, por lo que entrar en foco el papel de los cuidadores, ya sea formal o informal.Objetivo: Propor recomendações para os cuidadores e familiares durante o cuidado com os idosos em meio a pandemia de COVID-19. Método: A presente pesquisa trata-se de uma revisão narrativa com análise reflexiva da literatura vigente A procura das informações ocorreram no mês de setembro e outubro de 2020, na biblioteca virtual de saúde, Biblioteca eletrônica Scielo, no portal do Ministério da Saúde, da OPAS, e também da SBGG. Resultados: Para que o cuidado seja possível, é necessário que os cuidadores estejam em condições físicas, psíquicas e emocionais adequadas. Para tanto, devido à pandemia da Covid-19, velhos e novos hábitos precisam ser estabelecidos por todos no convívio com os idosos.
