The Physical Education teacher and ethnocentrism: a study on bullying

Resumo: The present study analyzes the perceptions and behaviors of three physical education teachers at the Federal Institute of Piauí - Campus Teresina Central, regarding manifestations of bullying and ethnocentric postures in the school environment. It is a qualitative research, through discourse analysis. The study is an excerpt of the doctoral research that has as its object bullying in the handball classes of the institution. The phenomenon was verified in the handball classes, the interest in investigating the existence of this syndrome in other modalities arose. The results proved the existence of this phenomenon and these postures in the school universe, generating situations of conflict, revolt and apathy. Teachers alleged weaknesses in their training to deal with this problem in an appropriate way. Consequently, they attested that their attitudes towards situations have been ineffective and inefficient. In this way, it is noticed a certain disregard of the institution in relation to the training of teachers to deal with situations like these.

Es una investigación cualitativa, a través del análisis del discurso. El estudio es un extracto de la investigación doctoral que tiene como objeto el bullying en las clases de balonmano de la referida institución. El fenómeno se comprobó en las clases de balonmano, surgió el interés por investigar la existencia de este síndrome en otras modalidades. Los resultados evidenciaron la existencia de este fenómeno y estas posturas en el universo escolar, generando situaciones de conflicto, revuelta y apatía. Los docentes alegaron deficiencias en su formación para afrontar este problema de forma adecuada. En consecuencia, atestiguaron que sus actitudes ante situaciones han sido ineficaces e ineficaces. De esta forma, se advierte un cierto desprecio de la Institución en relación a la formación de docentes para afrontar situaciones como estas.O presente estudo analisa as percepções e comportamentos de três professores de educação física do Instituto Federal do Piauí – Campus Teresina Central, em relação a manifestações de bullying e posturas etnocêntricas no ambiente escolar. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de cunho qualitativo, por meio de análise do discurso. O estudo é um recorte da pesquisa de doutorado que tem como objeto o bullying nas aulas de handebol da referida instituição. Constatado o fenômeno nas aulas de handebol, surgiu o interesse em investigar a existência dessa síndrome em outras modalidades. Os resultados comprovaram a existência deste fenômeno e destas posturas no universo da escola, gerando situações de conflito, revolta e apatia. Os professores alegaram fragilidade em sua formação para lidar com esse problema, de forma adequada. Consequentemente, atestaram que suas atitudes diante das situações tem se mostrado ineficazes e ineficientes.
