Rural microcredit: Public policy instrument to guarantee food security in northeast Brazil

Resumo: This article aims to analyze how the public policy of rural microcredit can contribute to providing food security for the northeastern population residing in the rural area. The hypothesis of this study consists of the following question “How can the granting of rural microcredit carried out by public banks, as a public policy tool, provide food security for the northeastern population?”. The descriptive methodology was used in this study, based on scientific publications, official government data and journalistic publications. It was found in this research that the microcredit public policy must be accessed by the most needy in an efficient way so that it can have effects on the food security of the northeastern population, especially those who live in the rural area.

La hipótesis de este estudio consiste en la siguiente pregunta “¿Cómo el otorgamiento de microcréditos rurales que realizan los bancos públicos, como herramienta de política pública, puede brindar seguridad alimentaria a la población nororiental?”. En este estudio se utilizó la metodología descriptiva, basada en publicaciones científicas, datos oficiales del gobierno y publicaciones periodísticas. Se encontró en esta investigación que la política pública de microcrédito debe ser accesible a los más necesitados de manera eficiente para que pueda tener efectos en la seguridad alimentaria de la población nororiental, en especial de los que viven en la zona rural.O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar como a política pública de microcrédito rural pode contribuir para proporcionar a segurança alimentar para a população nordestina que reside na zona rural. A hipótese deste estudo é que a concessão de microcrédito rural realizado por bancos públicos, enquanto ferramenta de políticas públicas, pode proporcionar segurança alimentar para a população nordestina. Utilizou-se neste estudo a metodologia descritiva baseando-se em publicações científicas, dados oficiais do governo e publicações jornalísticas.
