The processes of occupation of the Amazon by non-originating peoples, whether in diaspora movements, spontaneous migrations or directed colonization movements have always been linked to the predatory exploitation movements of the region, with a view to meeting the interests of capital based in other spaces, whether in the national territory or outside it. This text makes an effort to analyze some of the immigration currents destined to the Brazilian Amazonia that occurred between the 19th and 20th centuries, based on studies already carried out on the subject and which here constitutes a brief history on Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, Jewish, Syrian-Lebanese, Japanese and Afro-Antillean immigrations in the Amazon region. This is an example of the doctoral thesis Our land in other lands: the descendants of Slavs in the Zona da Mata Rondoniense developed with the Graduate Program Society and Culture in the Amazon of the Federal University of Amazonas and that for this publication went through updating data and information.
