Resumo: Coconut oil is obtained from the pulp of fresh ripe coconut and can be extracted in different ways; either by artisanal, solvent or mechanical extraction. Unlike other vegetable oils, this one has a high content of medium chain fatty acids, which represent around 60% of its composition. This high content of medium chain fatty acids results in several benefits for the human organism. The present study aimed to evaluate the impacts caused by the daily consumption of coconut oil on the reduction of the abdominal circumference of men and women and on weight loss, its antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and, finally, its influence on the prevention and development of Alzheimer's. Most of the fatty acids present in coconut oil are rapidly absorbed in the intestine, generating energy quickly, even without suffering the action of pancreatic lipase enzymes. From the bibliographic review carried out, the effectiveness of coconut oil in reducing the abdominal circumference of men and women and weight loss was considered, in addition to its antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and its influence of coconut oil on prevention and development Alzheimer's disease. However, it was considered viable to consume up to 12 grams of coconut oil daily, and can be used as a substitute for other oils of vegetable origin.

A diferencia de otros aceites vegetales, este tiene un alto contenido de ácidos grasos de cadena media, que representan alrededor del 60% de su composición. Este alto contenido de ácidos grasos de cadena media da como resultado varios beneficios para el organismo humano. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar los impactos causados por el consumo diario de aceite de coco en la reducción de la circunferencia abdominal de hombres y mujeres y en la pérdida de peso, su actividad antibacteriana contra Staphylococcus aureus y, finalmente, su influencia en la prevención y el desarrollo de la enfermedad de Alzheimer. La mayoría de los ácidos grasos presentes en el aceite de coco se absorben rápidamente en el intestino, generando energía rápidamente, incluso sin sufrir la acción de la enzima pancreática lipasa. A partir de la revisión bibliográfica realizada, se consideró la efectividad del aceite de coco para reducir la circunferencia abdominal de hombres y mujeres y la pérdida de peso, además de su actividad antibacteriana contra Staphylococcus aureus y su influencia del aceite de coco en la prevención y el desarrollo. Diferente dos demais óleos vegetais, possui um teor elevado de ácido graxo da cadeia média, que representa 60% da sua composição. Este alto teor de substâncias químicas da cadeia média resulta em diversos benefícios para o organismo humano. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar os impactos causados pelo consumo diário de óleo de coco na redução da circunferência abdominal de homens e mulheres e perda de peso, sua atividade antibacteriana contra Staphylococcus aureuse maior parte dos efeitos indesejados presentes no óleo de coco são de rápida absorção no intestino, gerando energia de forma rápida, mesmo sem afetar a ação enzimática das lipases pancreáticas. A partir da revisão bibliográfica realizada, considere a efetividade do óleo de coco na redução circunferência abdominal de homens e mulheres e perda de peso, além da atividade antibacteriana contra Staphylococcus aureus e sua influência no óleo de coco em uso e desenvolvimento de Alzheimer.
