The use of artificial intelligence in medicine: applications and benefits

Resumo: | This study is justified by its academic, scientific and social relevance, based on presenting the technological advances involving artificial intelligence in health. Thus, the objective of this research focuses on highlighting the applications and benefits of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine. This study was carried out through an integrative literature review, with an exploratory approach, whose institute was limited to investigating, through previously published articles, relevant information that answered the guiding question. Thus, the data collection took place in the scientific bases: SCIELO and LILACS. Evidence points out that the data processing power of artificial intelligence in medicine is broad. One of the main uses of this type of tool is to accurately store and process data. This allows all files to be digitized, making them easier to organize, protect and access. It's not just storage, it's a more organized way to find information. Depending on the needs of each physician, some technologies can access the most relevant data for specific analyses, such as test results or treatment suitability. In view of the above, knowing the benefits of AI, it is worth mentioning that none of the technologies mentioned replaces the role of the physician. On the contrary, they only contribute to better decisions and facilitate relationships with patients. In any case, "there is no doubt that artificial intelligence will remain in medicine and continue to make great strides in the future". |

Así, el objetivo de esta investigación se centra en destacar las aplicaciones y beneficios de la Inteligencia Artificial en Medicina. Este estudio se realizó a través de una revisión integradora de literatura, con enfoque exploratorio, cuyo instituto se limitó a indagar, a través de artículos previamente publicados, información relevante que respondiera a la pregunta orientadora. Así, la recolección de datos ocurrió en las bases científicas: SCIELO y LILACS. La evidencia señala que el poder de procesamiento de datos de la inteligencia artificial en medicina es amplio. Uno de los principales usos de este tipo de herramienta es almacenar y procesar datos con precisión. Esto permite digitalizar todos los archivos, lo que facilita su organización, protección y acceso. No es solo almacenamiento, es una forma más organizada de encontrar información. Dependiendo de las necesidades de cada médico, algunas tecnologías pueden acceder a los datos más relevantes para análisis específicos, como los resultados de las pruebas o la idoneidad del tratamiento. En vista de lo anterior, conociendo los beneficios de la IA, vale la pena mencionar que ninguna de las tecnologías mencionadas reemplaza el rol del médico. Por el contrario, solo contribuyen a tomar mejores decisiones y facilitan las relaciones con los pacientes. En cualquier caso, “no hay duda de que la inteligencia artificial permanecerá en la medicina y seguirá dando grandes pasos en el futuro”.A realização deste estudo, justifica-se pela sua relevância acadêmica, científica e social, pautada em apresentar os avanços tecnológicos que envolvem a inteligência artificial na saúde. Dessa forma, o objetivo desta pesquisa incide em evidenciar as aplicações e benefícios da Inteligência Artificial na Medicina. Este estudo foi realizado por meio de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, de abordagem exploratória, cujo instituto, se resumiu em investigar, através de artigos já publicados, informações relevantes que respondessem à pergunta norteadora. Assim, o levantamento de dados ocorreu nas bases científicas: SCIELO e LILACS. As evidências apontam que o poder de processamento de dados da inteligência artificial na medicina é amplo. Um dos principais usos desse tipo de ferramenta é armazenar e processar dados com precisão. Isso permite que todos os arquivos sejam digitalizados, tornando-os mais fáceis de organizar, proteger e acessar. Não é apenas armazenamento, é uma maneira mais organizada de encontrar informações. Dependendo da necessidade de cada médico, algumas tecnologias podem acessar os dados mais relevantes para análises específicas, como resultados de exames ou adequação de tratamentos. Frente ao exposto, conhecendo os benefícios da IA, vale ressaltar que nenhuma das tecnologias mencionadas substitui o papel do médico. Pelo contrário, eles apenas contribuem para melhores decisões e facilitam o relacionamento com os pacientes.
