Resumo: The characteristics and their homogeneous and heterogeneous aspects represent the central problem of this text, their objective is to describe the agrarian reality of the Betinho, Carlito Maia, Morro Grande, Santo Antônio II Settlements, in the state of Minas Gerais. The methodology used the integration of quantitative and qualitative approaches in the case study modality, using the techniques of data collection: direct observation and statistical indicators contained in the Project Database RADIS / UFMT. The analyzes were based on the research categories: Infrastructure / environmental management; economic / technological basis and social relations of production. Based on the cases analyzed, it is considered that the relationship between rural settlements and local development is part of a political field.

La metodología utilizó la integración de enfoques cuantitativos y cualitativos en la modalidad de estudio de caso, utilizando técnicas de recolección de datos: observación directa e indicadores estadísticos que aparecen en la Base de Datos del Proyecto RADIS/UFMT. Los análisis se basaron en las siguientes categorías de investigación: Gestión de infraestructura/medio ambiente; base económica/tecnológica y relaciones sociales de producción. A partir de los casos analizados, la relación asentamientos rurales/desarrollo local se considera parte de un campo político.As características e os seus aspectos homogêneos e heterogêneos representam a problemática central desse texto, seu objetivo é descrever a realidade agrária dos Assentamentos Betinho, Carlito Maia, Morro Grande, Santo Antônio II, no estado de Minas Gerais. A metodologia utilizou a integração das abordagens quantitativa e qualitativa na modalidade estudo de caso, utilizando as técnicas de coleta de dados: observação direta e indicadores estatísticos que constam no Banco de Dados do Projeto RADIS/UFMT. As análises pautaram-se nas categorias de investigação: Infraestrutura/manejo do ambiente; base econômica/tecnológica e relações sociais de produção.
