Resumo: The Marajó Archipelago has natural and marketing potential for the development of fish farming. However, information regarding the productive and economic aspects of fish farming in this region is still incipient, which makes it impossible to make decisions that allow its growth. In this context, the objective of this study was to analyze the productive and economic aspects of fish farming in the Marajó Archipelago, Pará, Brazil. Data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) referring to Municipal Livestock Production from 2014 to 2018 and from the 2017 Agricultural Census of the municipalities that make up the Marajó Archipelago were used, aiming to collect information on the behavior of production, main cultivated species, number of fish farms in operation and prices charged per species. The total production of fish farming increased by 487.9%, from 18.2 tonnes in 2014 to 107.0 tonnes in 2018. The tambaqui is the most produced species and also the most frequent in fish farms in the Marajó Archipelago. The curimatã, tambacu/tambatinga and pirapitinga have production records only in the municipality of Breves, which is the municipality with the largest number of fish farms in operation in the region. The prices charged were higher than the state average, with the price of tambaqui in Curralinho and tambacu/tambatinga in Breves showing an increase greater than the inflation of the period. The Marajó Archipelago presents itself as promising for the development of fish farming, but the use of its potential depends on efficient state public policies and the professionalization and organization of enterprises, aiming at increasing its competitiveness in the state of Pará.
