Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) and also vertically during any phase of the gestational period. Epidemiological surveillance of syphilis in pregnancy aims to control the vertical transmission of Treponema pallidum, adequately monitor the behavior of infection in pregnant women to plan and evaluate treatment, prevention and control measures. A case of syphilis in pregnancy is considered to be any pregnant woman with clinical evidence of syphilis and / or non-treponemal serological reagent, with any titration, even in the absence of a prenatal or at the time of delivery or curettage. This article aimed to describe the profile of cases of syphilis in pregnancy, reported in Paraíba State, Brazil, from 2007 to 2013. A descriptive study was conducted from the database available at the Center for Information and Analysis in Health (DATASUS), through the National System of Notification Diseases (SINAN). 1,728 cases of this type of infection were analyzed, aiming, through the exposure of quantitative variables and information about epidemiology, to assist in future studies and public health actions in this area context.
