Exclusive breastfeeding: an analysis of the first six months of life

Resumo: Breast milk is considered the best feeding source for infants, being the most economical strategy to reduce infant morbidity and mortality. Objective: To identify the factors that interfere with the exclusive breastfeeding in the first 6 months of the child's life. Method: This is an integrative review of the literature, based on the search for articles published in the Virtual Health Library, Scientific Electronic Library Online and CAPES Journals between 2017 and 2022. Results: It was observed that the main factors that interfere in exclusive breastfeeding are related to maternal age, schooling, family income, psychological, cultural factors and breast problems. Conclusion: Nursing is important to provide support and safety to nursing women. Prenatal consultations are essential to address possible doubts and fears about exclusive breastfeeding, in order to increase the knowledge of breastfeeding women about the harms of early weaning.

Objetivo: Identificar los factores que interfieren con la adhesión a la lactancia materna exclusiva en los primeros 6 meses de vida del niño. Método: Se trata de una revisión integradora de la literatura, realizada a partir de la búsqueda de artículos publicados en la Biblioteca Virtual en Salud, Biblioteca Científica Electrónica online y Revistas de CAPES entre 2017 y 2022. Resultados: Se observó que los principales factores que interfieren en la lactancia materna exclusiva están relacionados con la edad materna, la escolaridad, los ingresos familiares, los factores psicológicos, culturales y los problemas mamarios. Conclusión: La enfermería es importante para brindar apoyo y seguridad a las mujeres lactantes. Las consultas prenatales son esenciales para abordar posibles dudas y temores sobre la lactancia materna exclusiva, con el fin de aumentar el conocimiento de las mujeres que amamantan sobre los daños del destete precoz.O leite materno é considerado a melhor fonte de alimento para os lactentes, sendo a estratégia mais econômica para diminuir a morbimortalidade infantil. Objetivo: Identificar os fatores que interferem na adesão ao aleitamento materno exclusivo nos primeiros 6 meses de vida da criança. Método: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, realizada a partir da busca por artigos publicados na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, Scientific Electronic Library Online e Periódicos da CAPES entre 2017 a 2022. Resultados: Observou-se que os principais fatores que interferem na amamentação exclusiva estão relacionados com a idade materna, a escolaridade, a renda familiar, os fatores psicológicos, culturais e os problemas mamários. Conclusão: A enfermagem é importante para fornecer apoio e segurança às nutrizes.
