The use of natural acid-base indicators in Chemistry teaching: a review

Resumo: | Acid-base indicators are substances that have different colors depending on the acidity of the solution that is present, being an alternative for the contextualization and elaboration of tests with accessible and low-cost materials. This manuscript aims to present a review on the use of natural products used as a natural indicator applied to the teaching of acid-base. The methodology consisted of an integrative bibliographic research, covering the period from 2010 to 2020. The research was carried out in a database Scielo, Google Scholar, Science Direct, ResearchGate, and Redalyc. There was an ample use of natural products obtained from flowers, fruits, roots, and leaves used as a natural indicator, showing the classes of flavonoids and anthocyanins as the main compounds associated with the ability to change color in different pH media. The presented data demonstrated the diversity of materials, which were efficient as a facilitating of students' learning, favoring the assimilation of the Chemistry contents through the contextualizing of theoretical knowledge. |

El presente artículo tiene como objetivo presentar una revisión sobre el uso de productos naturales utilizados como indicador natural aplicado a la enseñanza del ácido-base. La metodología consistió en una búsqueda bibliográfica integrativa, cubriendo el período de 2010 a 2020. La investigación se realizó en una bases de datos de Scielo, Google Scholar, Science Direct, ResearchGate y Redalyc. Hubo un uso generalizado de productos naturales obtenidos de flores, frutas, raíces y hojas utilizados como indicador natural, mostrando las clases de flavonoides y antocianinas como los principales compuestos asociados con la capacidad de cambiar el color en diferentes medios de pH. Los datos presentados demostraron la diversidad de materiales, los cuales resultaron ser eficientes como facilitadores del aprendizaje de los estudiantes, favoreciendo la asimilación de los contenidos de Química a través de la contextualización del conocimiento teórico.Os indicadores ácido-base são substâncias que possuem cores diferentes em função da acidez da solução que está presente, sendo uma alternativa para a contextualização e elaboração de testes com materiais acessíveis e de baixo custo. Este manuscrito tem como objetivo apresentar uma revisão sobre o uso de produtos naturais utilizados como indicador natural aplicado ao ensino de ácido-base. A metodologia consistiu em uma pesquisa bibliográfica integrativa, abrangendo o período de 2010 a 2020. A pesquisa foi realizada em um banco de dados Scielo, Google Acadêmico, Science Direct, ResearchGate e Redalyc. Houve ampla utilização de produtos naturais obtidos de flores, frutos, raizes e folhas utilizados como indicador natural, evidenciando as classes de flavonoides e antocianinas como os principais compostos associados à capacidade de mudar de cor em diferentes meios de pH.
