Identification of mental models about cooling systems of students in the technical course in automotive maintenance

Resumo: This study has as main objective to identify the evolution of mental models on the knowledge of students of the Technical Course in Automotive Maintenance Integrated to High School, on the cooling systems of the internal combustion engines of the Otto and Diesel cycles. For such, a questionnaire was developed about the subject addressed. Five questions were prepared initially, that is, before the student had contact in the classroom with the subject addressed in this research. These questions were classified into three levels, which was easy, medium and difficult. After the content was administered, another questionnaire was applied containing five other questions, these were also classified into three levels of difficulty for the verification of the new scenario on the identification of students' mental models. The result of the first questionnaire was the finding that the students 'mental models are significantly heterogeneous and the use of the questionnaires before and after the subject was shown to be efficient in diagnosing the maturity and the evolution of the students' mental models.

Para ello, se desarrolló un cuestionario sobre el tema abordado. Inicialmente se prepararon cinco preguntas, es decir, antes de que el alumno tuviera contacto en el aula con el tema abordado en esta investigación. Estas preguntas se clasificaron en tres niveles, que son fácil, medio y difícil. Una vez administrado el contenido, se aplicó otro cuestionario con otras cinco preguntas, estas también fueron clasificadas en tres niveles de dificultad para la verificación del nuevo escenario sobre la identificación de modelos mentales de los estudiantes. El resultado del primer cuestionario fue el hallazgo de que los modelos mentales de los estudiantes son significativamente heterogéneos y el uso de los cuestionarios antes del sujeto demostró ser eficiente en el diagnóstico de madurez y evolución de los modelos mentales de los estudiantes.Este estudo tem como objetivo principal identificar a evolução dos modelos mentais sobre o conhecimento dos alunos do curso Técnico em Manutenção Automotiva Integrado ao Ensino Médio, sobre os sistemas de arrefecimento dos motores de combustão interna dos ciclos Otto e Diesel. Para tal, foi desenvolvido um questionário sobre o assunto abordado. Foram elaboradas cinco questões inicialmente, isso é, antes do aluno ter contato em sala de aula com o assunto abordado nesta pesquisa. Estas questões foram classificadas em três níveis, sendo estes fácil, médio e difícil. Após ser ministrado o conteúdo, foi aplicado outro questionário contendo outras cinco questões, estas também foram classificadas em três níveis de dificuldades para a verificação do novo senário sobre a identificação dos modelos mentais dos alunos.
