Evaluation of the occupational risks of the employees of the maintenance of a beneficent hospital of Recife/PE

This study’s goal is to verify the risks of injury’s incidence on maintenance staff’s employees, describing their main complaints and suggestions, always aiming at quality of life inside and outside the work environment. It’s an observational research, on a descriptive and quantitative side view, consisting of three questionaries and also the Rula tool. 33 employees have taken part in the inquiry, whom were selected through an intentional sample, according to the number of professionals working at the examined hospital. The results found a high incidence of painful symptoms, experienced for a period of more than six months in 42.42% of these professionals in which a large part indicated the direct relationship with the activities they performed. However, most of them refuse to use medication, plaster or compresses, thus demonstrating the lack of common self-care in these professions. Based on the analysis of the captured data, it was possible to conclude that basic modifications to the equipment, associated with guidance on the importance of good posture at work, would reduce the need for exaggerated physical efforts, and thus limiting the development of injuries and discomfort in the musculoskeletal system.
