Strategy for implementing an occupational safety and health management system based on ISO 45001

Resumo: | The occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) has as its main aspect the adoption of control measures focused on the prevention of injuries and illnesses through the promotion of safe and healthy workplaces. The objective of this study is to present the main steps for implementing an OHSMS, based on the international standard ISO 45001. During the implementation, several strategies can be implemented by the organization to structure the management system. Regardless of the strategy adopted, the satisfactory performance of an OHSMS is directly associated with the role of senior management, which must demonstrate leadership and commitment. In addition, it must ensure that responsibilities and authorities for relevant roles in the OHSMS are assigned and communicated at all levels and functions of the organization. The methodology used in the study was bibliographic survey, documentary research and practical case studies of implementation. As a final result, the main key factors for the implementation of an OHSMS are presented, in an effective and consistent manner, and in line with the requirements of ISO 45001. |

El objetivo de este estudio es presentar los pasos principales para implementar un SGSST, basado en el estándar internacional ISO 45001. Durante la implementación, la organización puede implementar varias estrategias para estructurar el sistema de gestión. Independientemente de la estrategia adoptada, el desempeño satisfactorio de un SGSST está directamente asociado con el papel de la alta gerencia, que debe demostrar liderazgo y compromiso. Además, debe garantizar que las responsabilidades y autoridades para los roles relevantes en el SGSST se asignen y comuniquen en todos los niveles y funciones de la organización. La metodología utilizada en el estudio fue la encuesta bibliográfica, la investigación documental y los casos prácticos de implementación. Como resultado final, se presentan los principales factores clave para la implementación de un SGSST, de manera efectiva y consistente, y en línea con los requisitos de ISO 45001.O sistema de gestão de segurança e saúde no trabalho (SGSST) tem como vertente principal a adoção de medidas de controle com foco na prevenção de lesões e doenças por meio da promoção de locais de trabalhos seguros e saudáveis. O objetivo desse estudo é apresentar os principais passos de implementação de um SGSST, com base na norma internacional ISO 45001. Durante a implementação, várias estratégias podem ser implementadas pela organização para se estruturar o sistema de gestão. Independente da estratégia adotada, o desempenho satisfatório de um sistema de gestão da SST está diretamente associado ao papel da Alta Direção que deve demonstrar liderança e compromentimento. Além disso, deve assegurar que as responsabilidades e autoridades para papéis pertinentes no SGSST sejam atribuídas e comunicadas em todos os níveis e funções da organização. A metodologia utilizada no estudo foi levantamento bibliográfico, pesquisa documental e estudos de casos práticos de implantação.
