Low cost methodology to determine the modulus of elasticity by static flection of beams of angelim pedra (Hymenolobium petraeum)

Resumo: The aim of this paper is to determine the Modulus of Elasticity (MOE) by using the Principle of Virtual Work and deflection values obtained experimentally from a beam made of angelim pedra (Hymenolobium petraeum) timber, through a low-cost methodology. Three timber beams used to determine MOE were obtained in Açailândia – MA commerce, with cross-sections of (60,0 x 43,0) mm² and (55,0 x 40,0) mm² and equal lengths of 5500 mm. Three point timber beams with free span of 4500 mm were loaded with 20 kgf, 40 kgf and 60 kgf. MOE values varied between 13039,13 MPa and 13505,28 MPa, with mean value and coefficient of variation equal to 13225,01 MPa and 1,36%, respectively. To give a greater support to the comparative analysis, experimental MOEs were compared with literature review. Finally, the methodology applied on the timber of the species Hymenolobium petraeum, presented satisfactory results to the Modulus of Elasticity by static flection.

Para la determinación del MOE de la pieza de madera, fue necessário recurrir a un estabelecimiento comercial en la ciudad de Açailândia - MA, en la qual fueron obtenidos tres piezas de angelim pedra (Hymenolobium petraeum). Fueron utilizados 3 piezas de madera con longitud igual a 5500 mm y secciones transversales comerciales igual a (60,0 x 43,0) mm² y (55,0 x 40,0) mm², al que fureon sometidos a flexión en três pontos en un aparato experimental con una brecha igual a 4500 mm. Para provocar deflexíones en las piezas, fueron aplicadas cargas pontuales de 20 kgf, 40 kgf, 60 kgf, en el centro de la brecha de la viga. Con los valores de desplaziamento obtenidos experimentalmente, fue necessário recurrir al PTV para se obtener el MOE. Los valores de MOE encontrados oscilaron entre 13039,13 MPa y 13505,28 MPa, siendo que el valor médio fue de 13225,01 MPa. El Coeficiente de variación de todos los resultados obtenidos para el MOE del angelim pedra fue de 1,36%, para proveer un apoyo mejor fue hecho análisis comparativas entre el MOE encontrado y el MOE retirado de la bibliografia. Por fin, la metodologia aplicada en la madera de espécie Hymenolobium petraeum, presentó resultados satisfactórios para el módulo de elasticidad a flexión estática.Este trabalho tem como objetivo determinar o MOE através do PTV, utilizando valores de deflexão de peças fletidas de madeira de angelim pedra (Hymenolobium petraeum) obtidas experimentalmente por intermédio de uma metodologia de baixo custo. Para a determinação do MOE da peça de madeira, recorreu-se a um estabelecimento comercial da cidade de Açailândia – MA, no qual foram obtidas três peças de madeira de angelim pedra. Foram utilizadas 3 peças de madeira com comprimento igual a 5500 mm e seções transversais comerciais iguais a (60,0 x 43,0) mm² e (55,0 x 40,0) mm², as quais foram submetidas à flexão em três pontos em um aparato experimental com vão igual a 4500 mm. Para provocar deflexões nas peças, foram aplicadas cargas pontuais de 20 kgf, 40 kgf, 60 kgf, no meio do vão da viga. Com os valores de deslocamento obtidos experimentalmente, recorreu-se ao PTV para se obter o MOE. Os valores de MOE encontrados variaram entre 13039,13 MPa e 13505,28 MPa, sendo que o valor médio foi de 13225,01 MPa.  O Coeficiente de Variação de todos os resultados obtidos para o MOE do angelim pedra foi de 1,36%, para proporcionar um melhor respaldo foi feita análises comparativas entre o MOE encontrado e os MOE retirados da bibliografia.
