Victimization of employees to students: explicit violence, disguised by school practices and neglect

Resumo: It is not known what is the scope of victimization of employees to students and the factors that influence this phenomenon, since there are few studies about it and the instruments for investigating the problem. This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the Student Employee Victimization Scale (Evaf). To this end, the responses to the research instrument of 1,484 public school students from the 6th to the 9th grade of elementary school from six cities in four Brazilian states were analyzed. It was noted that the scale is formed by three factors: explicit violence; disguised by school practices; and neglect, which together explain 57.9% of the variance, with an internal consistency index of 0.85. Thus, Evaf presented two theoretically adequate dimensions, addressing items representative of the phenomenon of victimization of employees to students, with moderate internal consistency. In conclusion, Evaf proved to be a favorable instrument for this type of research.

Con este fin, se analizaron las respuestas al instrumento de investigación de 1.484 estudiantes de escuelas públicas del sexto al noveno grado de la escuela primaria de seis ciudades en cuatro estados brasileños. Se observó que la escala está formada por tres factores: violencia explícita; disfrazado de prácticas escolares; y negligencia, que en conjunto explican el 57.9% de la varianza, con un índice de consistencia interna de 0.85. Así, Evaf presentó dos dimensiones teóricamente adecuadas, abordando ítems representativos del fenómeno de victimización de los empleados a los estudiantes, con moderada consistencia interna. En conclusión, Evaf demostró ser un instrumento favorable para este tipo de investigación.Não se sabe qual é a abrangência da vitimização de funcionários a alunos e os fatores que influenciam esse fenômeno, pois são poucos os estudos a respeito e os instrumentos para a investigação do problema. Este estudo objetivou avaliar as características psicométricas da Escala de Vitimização de Funcionários a Alunos (Evaf). Para tanto, foram analisadas as respostas ao instrumento de pesquisa de 1,484 alunos de escolas públicas de 6o a 9o ano do Ensino Fundamental provenientes de seis cidades de quatro estados brasileiros. Notou-se que a escala é formada por três fatores: violência explícita; disfarçada por práticas escolares; e negligência, os quais, conjuntamente, explicam 57,9% da variância, com um índice de consistência interna de 0.85. Assim, a Evaf apresentou duas dimensões teoricamente adequadas, abordando itens representativos do fenômeno da Vitimização de Funcionários a Alunos, com consistência interna moderada.
