Epidemiological profile of human visceral leishmaniasis in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil - 2010 to 2020

Resumo: Objective: to describe the epidemiological profile of cases of Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL) reported in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, from 2010 to 2020. Methods: quantitative-descriptive study of data obtained from the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN). Results: From 2010 to 2020, 318 cases of VL were reported; 66.35% of individuals were male; 56.29% declared themselves brown color; 37.74% were children aged ≤10 years; 43.82% completed elementary school and 85.54% lived in urban areas. The LV/HIV coinfection rate was 10.06%; 91.82% presented fever; 11.32% of cases evolved to death, 26.67% of individuals over 60 years of age and 65.09% occurred in the region of Rondonópolis. Conclusion: The study aims to the need to improve heath surveillance and control actions for the disease and its vectors, in addition to health education actions, especially among the most affected population.

Métodos: estudio cuantitativo-descriptivo de datos obtenidos del Sistema de Información de Agravios de Notificación (SINAN). Resultados: De 2010 a 2020, se notificaron 318 casos de VL; 66,35% de los individuos eran del sexo masculino; 56,29% se declararon morenos; 37,74% eran niños de ≤10 años; 43,82% completó la escuela primaria y el 85,54% residían en zonas urbanas. La tasa de coinfección LV/VIH fue de 10,06%; 91,82% presentaron fiebre; 11,32% de los casos evolucionaron a óbito, siendo 26,67% de individuos con más de 60 años y 65,09% ocurrieron en la región de Rondonópolis. Conclusión: El estudio apunta a la necesidad de mejorar las acciones de vigilancia y control de la enfermedad y sus vectores, además de las acciones de educación en salud, especialmente entre la población más afectada.Objetivo: descrever o perfil epidemiológico dos casos de Leishmaniose Visceral (LV) notificados no estado de Mato Grosso, Brasil, no período de 2010 a 2020. Métodos: estudo quantitativo-descritivo de dados obtidos do Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação (SINAN). Resultados: De 2010 a 2020, foram notificados 318 casos de LV; 66,35% dos indivíduos eram do sexo masculino; 56,29%se declararam pardos; 37,74% eram crianças com idade ≤10 anos; 43,82% concluíram o Ensino Fundamental e 85,54% residiam em zona urbana. A taxa de coinfecção LV/HIV foi de 10,06%; 91,82% apresentaram febre; 11,32% dos casos evoluíram para óbito, sendo 26,67% de indivíduos com mais de 60 anos e 65,09% ocorreram na regional de Rondonópolis.
