Effect of bull on performance and carcass quality traits of Nellore young bulls in southeastern Pará

Resumo: The objective was to verify the effect of the bull (father) on the performance, carcass yield, rib eye area and subcutaneous fat thickness of Nellore bulls bred in the southeastern region of Pará and finished in semi-confinement. We evaluated the initial weight characteristics (IWC) and final (FWC), total live weight gain (LWGt), average daily gain (ADG), carcass yield (CY), hot carcass weight (HCW), area loin eye (ALE) and fat thickness (FT) of 79 bulls. A completely randomized design was used, considering ten treatments (bulls), and the means compared by the Tukey test at 5% probability. The mean IWC of the animals was 472.35 ± 43.27 Kg, and FWC of 606.73 ± 48.63 Kg, LWGt of 134.38 ± 20.24 kg, and ADG of 1.17 ± 0.18 kg / day. There was no significant effect of the bull on most of the characteristics analyzed (p> 0.05). The average ALE was 38.28 cm² (± 7.55), with a range from 34.2 to 43.6 cm², and the average FT was 3.88 mm (± 2.05), with a variation of 3.17 to 4.3 mm. Such results show the need to use bulls with greater genetic value for these characteristics (ALE and FT).

Las características de peso vivo inicial (PVI) y final (PVF), ganancia total de peso vivo (GPVT), ganancia diaria promedio (GMD), rendimiento en canal (RC), peso en canal caliente (PCQ), área de ojo de costilla (AOL) y espesor de grasa (EGS) de 79 toros. Se utilizó un diseño completamente al azar, considerando diez tratamientos (toros), y las medias se compararon mediante la prueba de Tukey al 5% de probabilidad. El PVI medio de los animales fue de 472,35 ± 43,27 kg y PVF de 606,73 ± 48,63 kg, GPVT de 134,38 ± 20,24 kg y GMD de 1,17 ± 0,18 kg / día. No hubo efecto significativo del toro sobre la mayoría de las características analizadas (p> 0.05). El AOL promedio fue de 38.28 cm² (± 7.55), con un rango de 34.2 a 43.6 cm², y el EGS promedio fue de 3.88 mm (± 2.05), con una variación de 3.17 hasta 4,3 mm. Estos resultados muestran la necesidad de utilizar toros con mayor valor genético para estas características (AOL y EGS).Objetivou-se verificar o efeito do touro (pai) sobre o desempenho, rendimento de carcaça, área de olho de lombo e espessura de gordura subcutânea de tourinhos Nelore criados na região sudeste do Pará e terminados em semiconfinamento. Foram avaliadas as características de peso vivo inicial (PVI) e final (PVF), ganho de peso vivo total (GPVT), ganho médio diário (GMD), rendimento de carcaça (RC), peso de carcaça quente (PCQ), área de olho de lombo (AOL) e espessura de gordura (EGS) de 79 tourinhos. Foi utilizado o delineamento inteiramente casualizado, considerando-se dez tratamentos (touros), e as médias comparadas pelo teste de Tukey a 5% de probabilidade. A média de PVI dos animais foi de 472,35 ± 43,27 Kg, e PVF de 606,73 ± 48,63 Kg, GPVT de 134,38 ± 20,24 kg, e GMD de 1,17 ± 0,18 kg/dia. Não foi verificado efeito significativo do touro sobre a maioria das características analisadas (p>0,05). A média de AOL foi de 38,28 cm² (± 7,55), com variação de 34,2 a 43,6 cm², e EGS média de 3,88 mm (± 2,05), com variação de 3,17 a 4,3 mm.
