Instagram as an educational tool for foreign language teachers’ education

Resumo: | This article analyses the use of the social network Instagram as a means of disseminating content on technology and education in order to assist the education of foreign language teachers. This work is yield of studies of the research group - Technologies for Communicative Teaching of Foreign Languages (TECLE) - of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). It aims to present a social network included in a non-formal teaching context, capable of not only disseminating the group, but also proposing innovative methodologies for language teaching and disseminating relevant information for teachers’ inclusion in the digital culture. The adoption of such proposal is relevant because digital technology is increasingly present in educational practices, leading to the need for adaptation. The methodology adopted in the study is exploratory, through which weekly created and shared publications were analysed in light of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) model. The results of the study point out the contribution of the social network Instagram in the initial and continuing education of foreign language teachers, promoting the integration among pedagogical, content and technological knowledge of these professionals. |

Este trabajo es resultado de estudios del grupo de pesquisa – Tecnologias para o Ensino Comunicativo de Línguas Estrangeiras (TECLE) de la Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC) – y tiene como objetivo presentar una red social inserida en un contexto no formal de enseñanza, capaz de no solamente divulgar el grupo, pero también proponer metodologías innovadoras de enseñanza de lenguas y difundir informaciones pertinentes a la inserción de profesores en la cultura digital. La adopción de tal propuesta se muestra relevante, pues la tecnología digital está cada vez más presente en las prácticas educacionales, llevando a la necesidad de adaptaciones. La metodología adoptada en el estudio es exploratoria, a través de la cual fueron analizadas las publicaciones creadas y compartidas semanalmente a la luz del modelo Conhecimento Tecnológico Pedagógico do Conteúdo (CTPC). Los resultados del estudio apuntan la contribución de la red social Instagram en la formación inicial y continuada de los profesores de lenguas extranjeras, posibilitando la integración entre los conocimientos pedagógico, del contenido y tecnológico de esos profesionales.O presente artigo analisa o uso da rede social Instagram como meio de disseminação de conteúdos sobre tecnologia e educação, de modo a auxiliar na formação de professores de línguas estrangeiras. Este trabalho é resultado de estudos do grupo de pesquisa – Tecnologias para o Ensino Comunicativo de Línguas Estrangeiras (TECLE), da Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC) – e tem como objetivo apresentar uma rede social, inserida em um contexto não-formal de ensino, capaz de não apenas divulgar o grupo, mas também propor metodologias inovadoras de ensino de línguas e difundir informações pertinentes à inserção de professores na cultura digital. A adoção de tal proposta, mostra-se relevante, pois a tecnologia digital está cada vez mais presente em práticas educacionais, levando à necessidade de adaptações.
