Maintenance of peripheral venipuncture in children: perspectives of nursing professionals and companions

Resumo: | The professional/child/companion triad experiences, experiences and shares everyday situations about information and care practices regarding the maintenance of peripheral venipuncture make up a socially constituted group capable of representing the procedure as a socially shared object that need to be understood for an appropriate therapy. The general objective was to describe comparatively the social representations elaborated by nursing professionals and companions of hospitalized children about the maintenance of infantile peripheral venipuncture and how to triangulate structural and procedural approaches to social representations. Qualitative research outlined in the Theory of Social Representations. Collected sociodemographic data, applied the technique of free evocation of non-hierarchical words and individual interviews in depth, recorded, from guiding questions. Data analysis was performed according to the representational structure and content. All ethical and legal aspects of research involving human beings were complied with (Opinion No. 2,543,592). 22 nursing professionals and 118 companions participated. Representations for professionals about maintaining venipuncture in a child involved technical behaviors (reified knowledge) and, for companions, feelings of sadness and appreciation of their need (meanings). The need for reflections on the perspective of both regarding the maintenance of venipuncture in hospitalized children was evidenced in a less technical perspective and that considers the feelings and behaviors of the family-child dyad. |

El objetivo general fue describir comparativamente las representaciones sociales elaboradas por profesionales de enfermería y acompañantes de niños hospitalizados sobre el mantenimiento de la venopunción periférica infantil y cómo triangular enfoques estructurales y procedimentales de las representaciones sociales. Investigación cualitativa perfilada em la Teoría de las Representaciones Sociales. Datos sociodemográficos recogidos, aplicada la técnica de evocación libre de palabras no jerárquicas y entrevistas individual e sen profundidad, grabadas, a partir de preguntas orientadoras. El análisis de los datos se realizó de acuerdo com la estructura representativa y el contenido. Se cumplier on todos los aspectos éticos y legales de lainvestigacióncon seres humanos (Opinión N ° 2.543.592). Participaron 22 profesionales de enfermería y 118 acompañantes. Las representaciones para los profesionales sobre el mantenimiento de laven o punción em um niño involucraron comportamientos técnicos (conocimiento cosificado) y, para los acompañantes, sentimientos de tristeza y aprecio por su necesidad (significados). La necesidad de reflexiones sobre la perspectiva de ambos sobre el mantenimiento de la punción venosa en niños hospitalizados se evidenció en una perspectiva menos técnica y que considere los sentimientos y comportamientos de la díada familia-niño.A tríade profissional/criança/acompanhante vivencia, experimenta e compartilha situações cotidianas sobre informações e práticas de cuidados a respeito da manutenção da venopunção periférica compõem um grupo socialmente constituído capaz de representar o procedimento como um objeto socialmente compartilhado que precisam ser compreendidos para uma terapêutica adequada. O objetivo geral foi descrever comparativamente as representações sociais elaboradas por profissionais de enfermagem e por acompanhantes de crianças internadas sobre a manutenção da venopunção periférica infantil e como específico triangular as abordagens estrutural e processual das representações sociais. Pesquisa qualitativa delineada na Teoria das Representações Sociais. Coletado dados sociodemográficos, aplicado técnica da evocação livre de palavras não hierarquizada e entrevistas individuais em profundidade, gravadas, a partir de questões norteadoras. Realizou-se análise de dados segundo a estrutura e conteúdo representacional. Foram atendidos todos aspectos ético-legais de pesquisa envolvendo seres humanos (Parecer nº2.543.592). Participaram 22 profissionais de enfermagem e 118 acompanhantes. As representações para os profissionais sobre manter a venopunção numa criança envolveram comportamentos tecnicistas (conhecimento reificado) e, para os acompanhantes, sentimento de tristeza e valoração de sua necessidade (significados).
