Scientific and technological mapping of carboxymethylated cashew gum for the polymeric nanoparticles development to anti-leishmania application

Resumo: Leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease that affects worldwide populations, research has indicated the use of polymeric nanoparticles for the treatment of that pathology. Thus, this work aimed to carry out a scientific and technological prospection of the antileishmanial activity of polymeric nanoparticles produced with carboxymethylated cashew gum. For this, a search was carried out in databases of publication of articles and patents with keywords and specific criteria, taking into account only those that presented correlations with the research topic. The results obtained from the search for articles and patents reveal that carboxymethylated cashew gum has few studies and no patented technology focused on nanotechnology, and no work/document has elucidated the potential of these materials to combat leishmaniasis. Thus, it is concluded that there are few investigations developed based on carboxymethylated cashew gum, especially when related to nanotechnology, providing opportunities for new research and products with this biomaterial to be explored.

De este modo, el presente trabajo tiene por objetivo realizar una prospección científica y tecnológica de la actividad antileishmania de las nanopartículas poliméricas producidas con goma de anacardo carboximetilada. Para lo cual, se realizó una búsqueda en bases de publicación de artículos y patentes con palabras-llave y criterios específicos, teniendo en consideración solamente los que presentaron correlación con el tema de investigación. Los resultados obtenidos con la búsqueda de artículos y patentes mostraron que la goma de anacardo carboximetilada posee pocos estudios y ninguna tecnología patentada direccionada para la nanotecnología, siendo que ningún trabajo/documento elucidó el potencial de estos materiales para combatir la leishmaniasis. De este modo, se concluyó que son pocas las investigaciones desarrolladas con base en la goma de anacardo carboximetilada, principalmente cuando son relacionados a la nanotecnología, dando la oportunidad a nuevas investigaciones y productos para ser explorados con este biomaterial.As leishmanioses são doenças parasitárias que atingem as populações do mundo inteiro, sendo que pesquisas têm indicado o uso de nanopartículas poliméricas para o tratamento desta patologia. Desse modo, este trabalho objetivou a realização de uma prospecção científica e tecnológica da atividade antileishmania de nanopartículas poliméricas produzidas com goma do cajueiro carboximetilada. Para isso, realizou-se uma busca em bases de publicação de artigos e patentes com palavras-chave e critérios específicos, levando em consideração apenas os que apresentavam correlações com o tema de pesquisa. Os resultados obtidos com a busca dos artigos e patentes revelam que a goma do cajueiro carboximetilada possui poucos estudos e nenhuma tecnologia patenteada voltada para a nanotecnologia, sendo que nenhum trabalho/documento elucidou o potencial destes materiais para o combate da leishmaniose.
