Adolescent pregnancy: vulnerabilities in the use of contraceptive methods among young people

Resumo: Objective: to analyze the experiences and difficulties of pregnant adolescents regarding the use of contraceptive methods. Methodology: this is a descriptive and exploratory study, of a quantitative-qualitative nature, carried out with adolescents who undergo prenatal care at a health unit in a municipality in the interior of Paraná. Fifteen adolescents, aged between 13 and 17 years old, participated in the research. A data collection instrument was applied in the period of April 2022. In addition to age, the following variables were analyzed: race/color, family income, marital status, education, number of pregnancies, contraceptive use and knowledge, pregnancy planning and complications in pregnancy. Results: 93.9% of the adolescents were between 14 and 17 years old, all of them knew about contraceptives, the male condom was the most used method and 73% did not have a planned pregnancy. Conclusion: teenage pregnancy is still a very present reality within society, despite all the alternatives of information and access to available methods.

Metodología: se trata de un estudio descriptivo y exploratorio, de carácter cuantitativo-cualitativo, realizado con adolescentes que realizan control prenatal en una unidad de salud de un municipio del interior de Paraná. Quince adolescentes, con edades entre 13 y 17 años, participaron de la investigación. Se aplicó un instrumento de recolección de datos en el período de abril de 2022. Además de la edad, se analizaron las siguientes variables: raza/color, ingreso familiar, estado civil, escolaridad, número de embarazos, uso y conocimiento de anticonceptivos, planificación del embarazo y complicaciones en el embarazo. Resultados: El 93,9% de los adolescentes tenían entre 14 y 17 años, todos conocían sobre anticonceptivos, el preservativo masculino fue el método más utilizado y el 73% no tenía un embarazo planificado. Conclusión: el embarazo adolescente sigue siendo una realidad muy presente en la sociedad, a pesar de todas las alternativas de información y acceso a los métodos disponibles.Objetivo: analisar as experiências e as dificuldades de adolescentes gestantes quanto ao uso de métodos contraceptivos. Metodologia: trata-se de um estudo descritivo e exploratório, de caráter quanti-qualitativo, realizado com adolescentes que realizam acompanhamento pré-natal em uma unidade de saúde em um município no interior do Paraná. Participaram da pesquisa 15 adolescentes, na faixa etária de 13 a 17 anos. Foi aplicado um instrumento de coleta de dados no período de abril de 2022. Além da idade, foram analisadas as seguintes variáveis: raça/cor, renda familiar, estado civil, escolaridade, número de gestações, uso e conhecimento sobre contraceptivo, planejamento da gravidez e complicações na gestação. Resultados: 93,9% das adolescentes tinham idade entre 14 e 17 anos, todas conheciam contraceptivos, o preservativo masculino foi o método mais utilizado e, 73% não tiveram gravidez planejada.
