Enabling secure sharing of Electronic Health Records (EHR) with Blockchain

Resumo: The aim of this review was to identify what is being considered when using blockchain for sharing of health records. The BVS and PubMed databases were screened by articles published between July 2018 and July 2021. A total of eight studies, in which patients own the data and have access to it, were selected. It was observed that data confidentiality was the main concern (87.5%), followed by scalability (25%), latency (25%), and availability (12.5%). It was concluded that despite all the advantages associated with the use of Blockchain, data reliability still stands out as one of the concerns when using it for sharing health records.

Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sistemática, en las bases de datos de BVS y PubMed, sobre el uso de blockchain para el intercambio seguro de historias clínicas en artículos publicados entre julio de 2018 y julio de 2021. Fueron seleccionados ocho estudios enfocados en modelos en los que el paciente es dueño de sus datos, con mecanismos de control de acceso. Se observó que la confidencialidad de los datos fue el tema principal abordado (87,5%), seguido de las preocupaciones sobre la red en cuanto a escalabilidad (25%), latencia (25%) y disponibilidad (12,5%). Se concluyo que a pesar de todas las ventajas asociadas con el uso de Blockchain, la confiabilidad de los datos aún se destaca como una de las mayores preocupaciones cuando se usa para compartir registros médicos.O objetivo deste estudo foi identificar o que tem sido considerado na utilização de blockchain para compartilhamento de registros de saúde. Realizou-se uma revisão sistemática da literatura, nas bases BVS e PubMed, sobre uso de blockchain para compartilhamento seguro de registros de saúde em artigos publicados entre julho de 2018 a julho de 2021. Foram selecionados oito estudos focados em modelos nos quais o paciente é dono de seus dados, com mecanismos para controle de acesso. Observou-se que a confidencialidade dos dados foi o principal tema abordado (87,5%), seguido por preocupações com a rede quanto a escalabilidade (25%), latência (25%) e disponibilidade (12,5%).
