Assessment of termal performance in metallic container kiosks in Brasília

Resumo: | The architecture design must meet both energy efficiency and user comfort conditions. NBR 15575-1 (ABNT, 2013) states that the thermal performance of the building must be assessed under two conditions: summer performance and winter performance. The analysis criteria is based on maximum and minimum temperature values of the extended-stay environments. In order to attempt the criteria proposed by the regulation, computer simulations were used to create different construction scenarios, including container steel sheets for supposed kiosks in Brasília city. It was observed in the computational simulations that the kiosks, because they are made of steel, suffer big influence of the external temperatures and of the insolation, being necessary the use of other strategies to improve the thermal performance. Knowing that, it is noticed that the use of thermal insulation is indispensable in Brasília bioclimatic zone, where, according to normative recommendations, temperature and relative humidity are not ideal. Among the scenarios proposed in the simulation, the containers that showed better performance were the ones that used an additional coverage and the ones that used drywall plasterboard with a rock wool insulation to obtain cooler temperatures in summer and more pleasant internal temperatures to the occupants in winter. |

La NBR 15575-1 (ABNT, 2013) establece que el desempeño térmico del edificio debe ser evaluado bajo dos condiciones: desempeño en verano y desempeño en invierno. El criterio de análisis se basa en los valores de temperatura máxima y mínima de los ambientes a largo plazo. Para abordar los criterios propuestos por la norma, se utilizaron simulaciones informáticas para crear diferentes escenarios de construcción, incluidas láminas de acero de contenedores para la construcción de quioscos en la ciudad de Brasilia. Se observó en las simulacionoes informáticas realizadas que los quioscos, por ser de acero, son muy influenciados por las temperaturas externas y la insolación, requiriendo el uso de estrategias para mejorar el desempeño térmico. Se observó que el uso de aislamiento térmico es fundamental para la zona bioclimática de Brasilia, donde la temperatura y la humedad relativa no son favorables, de acuerdo con las recomendaciones normativas. Entre los escenarios propuestos en la simulación, los que mostraron un mejor desempeño fueron el uso de coberturas adicionales para obtener temperaturas más suaves en verano y temperaturas interiores más agradables para los ocupantes en invierno; y paredes de cartón yeso con aislamiento térmico de lana de roca.O projeto de arquitetura deve atender simultaneamente à eficiência energética e às condições de conforto do usuário. A NBR 15575-1 (ABNT, 2013) estabelece que o desempenho térmico da edificação deve ser avaliado em duas condições: desempenho no verão e desempenho no inverno. O critério da análise é baseado em valores máximos e mínimos de temperatura dos ambientes de permanência prolongada. Objetivando abordar os critérios propostos por norma, utilizou-se de simulações computacionais para criar diferentes cenários construtivos, incluindo chapas de aço de containers para construção de quiosques na cidade de Brasília. Foi observado nas simulações computacionais realizadas que os quiosques, por serem em aço, sofrem grande influência das temperaturas externas e da insolação, sendo necessário o uso de estratégias para a melhoria do desempenho térmico. Observou-se que o uso de isolamentos térmicos é indispensável para a zona bioclimática de Brasília, onde a temperatura e a umidade relativa não são favoráveis, segundo as recomendações normativas.
